Habitat Heart Awards
The Habitat Heart Award is an annual honor highlighting a community partner who has been instrumental in the success of Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity. This year, two honorees were chosen:
Weiss Home Improvement first collaborated with Cedar Valley Habitat for Women Build Classes. What started as a one-night basic hand and power tool class evolved into a monthly education series covering a range of topics from how to refinish to home maintenance to make-and-take projects. They have solicited materials and tools from local vendors and given hours of their time to prepare and teach these classes. Women Build was a success this year thanks to the efforts of Jeff and Jen at Weiss Home Improvement.
Larry supported Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity as a board member and legal counsel for 34 years. He led the closings for over 150 homes Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity has built, becoming the first person to congratulate families on achieving their dreams of affordable homeownership. His counsel and his commitment will remain as beacons for Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity’s leadership. A Habitat Heart award in his memory was given to his widow Joan.
