From Michigan:
Hello Dearest Campers,
I am sending love and warmth in the middle of this strange and unpredictable year. I often think fondly on our Turtle Island days together at camp and hope to return soon. I am hunkered down for the winter with my family in Michigan. Filling my time with sewing and weaving and many new crafts. I am happy to have the time to be creative and have been working on making some bread. I hope that all of you are safe and warm and I look forward to reuniting at camp this summer. ~ Emma Berg

From Boone, NC:
Heyo! Sending lots of love to all of you from Boone. I have returned to base camp a few times since summer and everytime I begin my journey down, I immediately feel a change in the air -- I can only describe it as something magical. I think that magic stems not only from the curiosities that the natural world has to offer, but also within the influence of people that have lived and learned there. I feel it everytime I go. And I am always reminded of all of you. Thank you all for giving me strength, I try my best to take it everywhere I go. I hope you, too, feel empowered from the growth you made at camp and that you carry it with you in all of your endeavors. -Kate
From Mocksville, NC:
Merry Christmas and warm wishes through the cool months of winter to y'all. Looking forward to warm days of joy and laughter when we are all together again during the upcoming season of camp. My love and prayers to you all ~Miracle
From Charlotte, NC:
Warm Greetings from Charlotte, North Carolina. Hoping you all are staying healthy and not requiring too many salves and tinctures for your winter time ailments! After camp this year, I dove right into my work with a nonprofit and have loved it dearly. Just recently I was able to hold a Barn Owl and then a few weeks later, was wading through dirty waters to help clean up our rivers. Life is pretty grand. Do not think I have stopped my medic work though! Earlier this fall you would have found me administering shots to my pet rabbit after a special procedure and then treating my mother for her hundredth case of poison ivy this year!
I will say it is always hard to leave a close community like the one we develop at camp in the summer, but it is so wonderful to imagine what the next year will bring. I look forward to seeing you all again and am ready for the new adventures we will have and the stories we will create together. Keep your heads up and enjoy this season of life. It flies by, and before we know it another summer of camp will come and go again. Remember to live in the moment and soak in the moonlight every chance you get. Much love to you all from me and my newest 11yo ‘child’, Munchkin. – Love, Molo
From Carrolton, GA:
Hello from Georgia! Terra here. I'm looking out the window, seeing a red bird drinking from my new winter birdbath I put out to help the birds have water when the ice is not set in. This male cardinal is vibrant against the green and brown backdrop; the leaves of the elder cling even in the cold. Zinnia is getting about to start up a fire and I'm about to head out to get more wood brought in. We are ready to nestle in for the evening as the sun gets low. I hope these newly winter days and nights are finding you all well. and as the days slowly grow this time of the darkest nights, may your heart be warm, your body be well nourished, and your spirit be contentedly joyful. I hope we can be together again when the trees are full, the nights are short and the sun is high in the northern hemisphere.
With love, Terra
From Texas:
Hello! I hope everyone has been had a great fall season! Lately, I have been reflecting on my experience at Turtle island and realizing the huge blessing that it has been. I am making some good changes in my life like transferring to Prescott college this semester and getting a dog! I have greatly enjoyed being able to have a greater appreciation of the world around me by taking more time to learn more about the natural world that I am in. I hope that in the next season more joy and happiness come y'alls way!
From Asheville, NC:
Deerly Beloveds,
I finally moved to the country again! Huzzah! It's really pretty out here and I can slow myself down enough to do some crafting instead of shopping for the Holy Days. Happy Soulstice everybuddy. Today we hiked out to the parkway to explore and got work trade hours to do so. I can walk to Durham or Maine from the land. I sometimes go for dark hikes and remember ours. Hope we can stay in touch and see each other soon at Wild Woods Woman's Wilderness Wonderwheel Weekend, part deux. Noticing how much more silly, confident, supported and generally capable I felt after I left y'all and when I think of you too. Glad we get to know each other. Take it easy pals ~Krista (aka Frida)
From Boone, NC:
Autumn had no trouble giving-way to winter here this year. As Jupiter and Saturn inch closer to one another in the sky for winter solstice, we too come closer to one another in our casting a circle of light with our candles on December 24th night. Camp is quiet these days, save for the creak and groan of winter trees in the wind. The horses have been moved into winter quarters, as they grow shaggier hair in response to to the cold longer nights. The honeybees are hunkered down in their supers. A few frozen greens are poking oddly up from the garden soil, and the compost pile is frozen solid. As our part of the planet turns into a new season, I cant help but think of all of you and your smiling faces and hoping that wherever you are right now, you are warm, feeling safe and well! May there also be moments of playfulness too. May you remember the things you learned at camp, and lean into those skills and that knowledge you gained. -Desere
