Over 2,000 Visitors Attend

"The First Step to Freedom"

First Step to Freedom
We at Roberson Museum and Science Center were fortunate to recently present a limited, two-day exhibition of an important, rarely seen document of American history: Abraham Lincoln's Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation. Approximately 2,200 people, including over 900 school children, were able to see this remarkable, handwritten piece of history in a travelling exhibition organized by the New York State Library and Museum.

But because of restrictions on the number of people who could safely pass through the museum gallery before the exhibition moved on to another location, many visitors had to be turned away. We very much regret that we had to disappoint so many of our neighbors.

We have requested a return visit of the Lincoln exhibition; information about that and other upcoming exhibitions are at Roberson.org.
