Domestic Violence Awareness Month Recap

Thank you to everyone who participated in Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

We held our annual 5K DASH Against Domestic Violence in-person this year! We appreciate everyone who made this event possible, from Upper Gwynedd Township to our participants, for coming out on a brisk October morning to join us in the fight against domestic violence. Thanks to your generosity, you helped us net over $23,000 for victims of domestic violence. Special shoutout to our sponsors for their incredible support!

Just like our runners sported their purple 5K shirts, staff and supporters also brought out their own purple clothes for Purple Thursday during the DVAM Week of Action!

Laurel House also participated in the Domestic Violence Legal Network’s annual DVAM Ceremony. During the ceremony, Empty Place at the Table was displayed at the Montgomery County Courthouse to emphasize the lasting impact domestic violence has on our community.

This year also saw the return of Laurel's Loft's Reuse, Repurpose, Restore a Life Fashion Show and Luncheon! All fashion was from Laurel's Loft, our thrift shop in Lansdale. Proceeds are used to support our programs and services.

Thank you for all of the support that you showed during Domestic Violence Awareness Month! We want to keep the conversation going all year long, starting with GivingTuesday

Mark your calendar now for GivingTuesday on Nov. 29 to prepare for the big day!

We need your help to give our clients a memorable holiday season!

In addition to "Wish List" items requested by our clients, whenever possible, we like to provide gift cards for clients so that they may feel empowered to shop and purchase items for their families that they need.

Donations of any grocery or household items on our Wish List are greatly appreciated.

Let our clients tell you about the impact of holiday donations:

In Case You Missed It

Thank You to Our Community for their Support During

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Throughout the month of October, organizations and businesses in our community stepped up to show their support for survivors of domestic violence:

  • The Rachel & Troy Foundation and the Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company donated over 200 pillows for Safe Haven Center residents
  • Fingerpaint, Primark, Lower Moreland Highschool, and the King of Prussia Mall joined us on Purple Thursday
  • Altruesm created custom DVAM themed bags and accessories and donated proceeds from sales to Laurel House
  • Burn Boot Camp hosted a donation drive for Wish List items throughout the month
  • Wellness Coaches assembled and delivered brand-new Radio Flyer Wagons for the kids at the Safe Haven Center

From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to sincerely thank everyone in our community for joining us in the fight against domestic violence during DVAM.
