PICTURE BOOK
By M. E. Furman Susan Gal  (Illustrator)

I absolutely love this book about how kids all over the world celebrate Santa with special holiday treats! Who knew that Indonesians leave pineapple-filled cookies for Sinterklaas, or that kids in the UK leave mince pies and milk (or Guinness) for Father Christmas?! The colorful illustrations positively sparkle--and I love that families can follow the recipes to make their own sweets for Santa. I want to bake some cookies NOW!   — Barb (RBB Staff)
MIDDLE GRADE
H ave Sword, Will Travel
By Garth Nix

When Odo stumbles upon an enchanted sword in the bottom of the lake, it immediately knights him, even though his best friend Eleanor is the one who's always wanted to be a knight. But the sword insists that it can't change allegiances and that Odo--now Sir Odo--is destined to be a true knight. And that means going on a quest. Along the way the three travelers meet all sorts--from brigands to dragons--and discover that being a knight might be about more than just tourneys and single combat. Smart, funny, and an absorbing read.    — Lily (RBB Staff)
YOUNG ADULT
Long Way Down
By Jason Reynolds

The spare verse is perfectly suited to the setting and the visceral emotions of the story. This was intense and fantastic and you should read it right now.     — Angela (RBB Staff)
ADULT
By Alison McGhee

We all have secrets. It's in the telling of our secrets that we become more aware of who we are. This brilliantly told story of Clara and her mother Tamar has us frustrated with the hidden past that Clara is trying to uncover. Why did Tamar send Clara away? The answer is eventually revealed, and we realize to what extent a mother will go for the love of her child. A Kleenex, or two, will be necessary to have on hand while reading this wonderful novel by Alison McGhee. — Julie (RBB Staff)

Every month we hand-select and send books (sometimes signed ones!) to the lucky readers on your list. We tailor book selection based on child’s age, reading level, and interests . We’ll send emails to the giver each month to let them know which books were sent, and we keep a record of all books sent to the child to avoid duplications. Learn more here
