Scott will be demonstrating a variety of uncommon acrylic painting methods utilizing stain painting on raw canvas, and layering using various gel mediums.

If you don't meet the March 31, 2022 deadline your price to participate in the November Show will be $125.

Meet February Guest Artist Scott Porter
Scott Porter grew up drawing all the time, and began painting in 1994 at age 16. He started formal art study at Cheltenham College , in Cheltenham, England, completed A-level art course 1994-1996, completed his BFA at UMass, Amherst 2002, and studied closely under abstract expressionist James Hendrix. 
Scott began studying lampwork glass in Manchester NH 1999 and throughout the years has taken workshops and intensive classes in classical Drawing, studied Murrine making with Loren Stump, taught lampworking for the Currier Art Museum crafts program via Queen City Lampworks glass studio in Manchester 2004-2005 for 2 semesters, and co-taught lampworking at Snowfarm in Williamsburg, MA 2007. 
He has had a variety of small shows in galleries, shops, exhibitions, on the East and West coast as well as a collaborative piece in a museum and magazine in Japan, and most recently a solo exhibit of retrospective 25 years of painting in the Pepperell Library 2019.
Right now his focus is learning to create digital course offerings in painting, lampwork glass Murrine making, food medicine, and creative coaching. When he is not making art, you can find him playing guitar and exploring New England.

Voices of Emerging Artists
Digital art is a new trend that is starting to pop up in the art community and many young artists are incorporating this new medium into their art. The format of digital art is when pieces of art are done digitally, either on a drawing program or drawing tablet, or it can even be photographs that are altered digitally. These digital pieces can range from painting to illustrations to even animations, and many young artists are starting to experiment with many new mediums.
A local HB high school student discussed her experience with this new digital medium and if she would recommend it to other artists. When asked what programs she used, Mia K. said “Clip Studio Paint, but I used to use FireAlpaca”. She also uses drawing tablets, a Wacom Intuos. Mia explains that “I think people should definitely explore digital art if they want to try something new with their art. It’s fairly easy to learn, especially if you already have experience creating art…” expressing her opinion on the accessibility of digital art.
In addition to these supplies, there are many more free programs online and videos to help you learn about digital art. If you are interested in learning more about digital art, the companies Wacom, Huion, and Adobe have many free resources and videos that can introduce you into the world of digital art.
