AN OPPORTUNITY FOR REMEMBERING OUR LOVED ONES AT HOLMES
The Board of Directors for Holmes Camp and Retreat Center is pleased to announce the construction of the Holmes Peace Garden Memorial Wall.

Over the years, many have asked about a memorial for their loved ones. In response to this desire to create a remembrance, we have created a place of serenity and beauty; an enduring testament to the generations whose lives have been enriched by Holmes Camp. The peace garden is a place of calm reverence, set among the forest and granite rock, overlooking the west valley from the Agape Center mountaintop. It is a sacred place dedicated to the memory of those who have loved, and been loved at, Holmes Camp.

Each memorial bronze plaque set into the Holmes Camp Memorial Peace Garden wall measures twelve by six inches and notes one name, and the years of birth and death. (Sample plaque below.) Placement is in order of subscription, and a nearby space may be reserved. We can also create a plaque for someone living, with the dates to be added later. The plaque’s location with a dedication and biography is recorded in a memorial book retained in the Holmes Camp archives. Holmes Camp will be responsible for ordering all memorial plaques to assure uniformity. With the consent of the Executive Director, ashes of loved ones may be spread at Holmes. However, plaques may also honor those whose remains have been committed elsewhere.

Memorial plaques may be arranged through a memorial gift on behalf of themselves or a loved one, through a donation to Holmes Camp of at least $1,200. (Of course, we’d love as large a memorial donation as your generosity allows!) Donations to Holmes Camp are deductible as a 501(c)(3) charitable contribution, and are critical to ensuring a future for this sacred center.

Memorial Peace Garden application forms can be found on the Holmes Camp website here. Payment can be made by visiting HolmesCamp.org/support. You may also mail a check made payable to, Presbyterian Conference Association to Holmes Camp and Retreat Center, 60 Denton Lake Road, Holmes NY 12531.

The wall is located just off the Agape circle; standing with your back to the original Agape building, imagine walking to the center of the circular drive; the wall is to the left across Presbyterian Way.

"I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,"

NEW VAN FOR HOLMES
With much joy and gratitude, everyone at Holmes Camp thanks Karen Carlson and Daniel Sabbah of Briarcliff Manor for their gift of a 2011 Toyoto Sienna! These are the very same people who donated the much loved "gold van" used by our nurse in the summer. After years of faithful service and much tender care by our skilled staff, that van still operates but it has been telling us it's close to its eternal rest. Lo and behold, a call came from Karen and the replacement van was delivered last month. It's in great shape and we are eager to use it for picking people up at the train station, helping the nurse get around camp, and bringing campers and retreat participants around our 550 acres! Thank you Karen and Daniel!
