Holy Faith Weekly Update - February 25, 2025

TRANSFORM

"This, ultimately, is our hope and our joy, that our response to our encounter with Jesus

is that we are changed, that in our encounter with Jesus we become fully who we are:

sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, made in the image of God, conformed to the

image of Christ." – Brother Lain Wilson, SSJE, in a sermon September 15, 2024.

LENT

Ash Wednesday is March 5th: the Start of Lent

Plan to join Holy Faith for Ash Wednesday services at

Noon and/or 7 pm. During Ash Wednesday worship, we receive ashes on our foreheads - a sign of our mortality and our belonging to Christ. Ash Wednesday is one of two traditional fast days in the Church calendar, with Good Friday being the second fasting day. Ash Wednesday begins Lent, a 40-day season of preparation for Easter.

A simple soup lunch will follow the 12 pm Ash Wednesday service. Diane and Charlie Jacobs are providing a vegetarian soup and homemade bread. All are invited to stay after worship for fellowship and food.

Lenten Bible Study: The Parables of Jesus

The Lenten Bible Study, The Parables of Jesus, will meet Wednesday evenings in Lent (in person) with Pastor

Andrea, starting Wednesday, March 12th, 6:30 - 8 pm.

On March 9th, Pastor Andrea will lead a conversation on "Living and Praying Through Difficult Times."

Those who are interested, let’s meet in the Nave after worship to discuss how we can know and help others to experience the love of God in Christ during difficult days.

JOURNEY OF FAITH

3-part Sermon Series: “Gather, Transform, Send: The Purpose of Church”

Think of church life as a sacred rhythm that has three movements: we gather, our faith transforms us, and then we are sent into the world to share the good news and to bear witness to God’s justice, mercy, and love.
