Holy Faith Weekly Update - May 26, 2026

"Without Pentecost the Christ-event - the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus - remains imprisoned in history as something to remember, think about and reflect on. The Spirit of Jesus comes to dwell within us, so that we can become living Christs here and now." — Henri J.M. Nouwen

A Prayer for the Weekday Mornings after the Feast of Pentecost

Good morning Holy Spirit, I need you this day. Fill me with your presence, and guide me on my way. Good morning, Holy Spirit, I need you this day. Fill my mind, my soul, my thinking, and guide me as I pray. Precious Holy Spirit, I need you every day.

Surround me with your beam, and in my heart, please stay. -- Jacquelyn Russell

SERVICE

Write Letters of an Encouragement to an Incarcerated Neighbor

Michael Kittel is incarcerated in Toledo, Ohio, and has been since 2022. Holy Faith parishioner, Bernie Beach, knows his mother through walking in the neighborhood. Michael’s journey has been long and difficult and involved drugs in high school. Knowing that these notes come from people in his own community would mean a great deal to him. Contact Bernie Beach (bbeach0427@gmail.com) for Michael's address.

Dedicate Altar Flowers

Offer your thanks and praise by putting flowers on the altar in thanksgiving for a blessing in your life, or in memory of a loved one. A $50 donation is requested, which provides flowers for two Sundays in a row. Sign up on the bulletin board, or by emailing Lisa Reifert your dates and dedication to: lisareifert76@gmail.com.

Kindly make your donation by placing it in the offering plate (“altar flowers” marked on the envelope and/or on the memo line of your check), or online by scanning the QR code at left.

The Next First Friday Dinner at Hope Clinic is Friday, June 5th

Help serve our neighbors in need. Contact Outreach Coordinator Janet Cook if you’d like to know how you can help: janet.cook114@gmail.com

SAVE THE DATE:

June 14th – Matthew 25 Sunday: a day to reflect on Jesus’ exhortation to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, care for the stranger, clothe the naked, visit the sick and those in prison. Participatory and informational workshops organized by Voices for Justice will be available after worship.

GROWTH AND VITALITY

What the Holy Faith PLT is Working On & Excited About

1) Studying the Sunday Gospel and praying for one another

2) Discussing the top three needs/concerns in Saline and Washtenaw County, as we seek to discern how Holy Faith might help address those needs. Potential possibilities include hosting community information sessions about the Davenport Mansion and the future of the Mill Pond. We’re also foreseeing increased food insecurity as prices rise and the PLT is aware of a shortage of affordable housing.

3) Getting the carpets cleaned and seeking a diocesan grant to replace deteriorating light poles in parking lot.

Celebrate Holy Faith’s Graduates

Is someone in your family graduating this year? Holy Faith wants to acknowledge graduates and pray for them. We will do this on Sunday, June 7th. Please let Pastor Andrea know if someone in your family is graduating: andrea@holy-faith-church.org

Ministry Team Leaders and Members are Invited to a June 7 Superstar Leadership Gathering, 12:15 - 1:45 pm. Lunch Will Be Provided.

This will be a time for fun, planning, community-building, and Q&A with Pastor Andrea and PLT. These gatherings are open to anyone in the parish as a way of getting to know people, checking out a ministry team, and staying in the know. RSVPs aren't required but helpful: andrea@holy-faith-church.org

We Can Eliminate Our Budget Deficit!

In January, PLT member Jim Mangi ran the numbers and discovered that closing our 2026 budget deficit is very achievable. If each household makes a one-time gift of $200, we can eliminate the deficit together. That’s about $4 per week over the course of the year. Please consider if you can help us reach this goal. Thank you to the five households who have already contributed!

Question from the Parish Leadership Team: Getting to Know Our Neighborhood

Do you know the three biggest challenges facing Saline and our broader Washtenaw County community? Holy Faith’s PLT is exploring our local context and would love your perspective.

We’d really appreciate hearing from you. Please drop a line to the Church Office at: office@holy-faith-church.org

Volunteer to Play the Bell Tree at Holy Faith

The bell tree is a fun, accessible way for anyone to participate in worship — no experience needed! Open Sundays include May 24 (Pentecost), June 14, June 21 (Pride Sunday), June 28, and any Sunday in July or August. Contact church musician Joy Morin to choose your date and get penciled in!

The Garden Buddies Planted Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes

The Garden Buddies planted rows of potatoes and sweet potatoes. Anyone who is interested in learning more or helping, is invited to show up at 6 pm, Mondays. No expertise required, and no long-term commitment required. All produce goes to Saline Area Social Service or to the Fed Up Food Ministry.

Church Directory on the Bulletin Board

A printed copy of the church directory is available on the bulletin board to help you stay connected and care for one another. We also plan to share it online once the PLT identifies a way to do so that follows best practices for online safety.
