A Message from Mrs. Sharkey
I vividly remember my days as a middle school student when my classmates and I were called upon to assist our parish in setting up and taking down tables and chairs for funeral luncheons. It may have seemed like a simple task at the time, but looking back, I realize how profoundly this experience shaped my understanding of service.
Helping during those moments was more than just a chore; it was a beautiful way to live out one of the corporal works of mercy—bury the dead. Caring for those who mourn as they said goodbye to their loved ones was the least we could do for those in our Church community that supported us as students in so many ways. It taught us that our faith is deeply intertwined with service to others, and that even small acts of kindness can make a significant impact.
Service is at the heart of our faith and our faith community. It's a tangible expression of our love for God and our neighbors, and it helps us grow closer to one another and to Christ. This spirit of service is something we continue to nurture in our school community, as we strive to teach our students the importance of giving back and living out their faith in concrete ways.
One such opportunity for service is our upcoming Fall Fest fundraiser. This event is not only a joyful celebration of our school community, but also a vital way to support the ongoing academic and faith formation of our students. We invite all families to participate, whether by volunteering your time, contributing to the event, or simply attending and enjoying the festivities. By doing so, you’ll not only have the opportunity to earn service hours, but also demonstrate to your children the importance of sharing our faith through acts of service.
I encourage you to sign up today and join us in making this year’s Fall Fest a success. Your involvement is crucial in helping us continue to provide a strong, faith-based education for our students.
