Hello, Holy Family!
I hope your week has been a good one!
I feel like here at school, we have been living by one of my mantras: Work hard. Pray hard. Play hard.
As I type this (Friday afternoon) it is amazing to know that just a short walk down the hall, Jesus is present in our school in the Blessed Sacrament. What's more, our students have been visiting him to pray throughout the day. We celebrated a beautiful Mass at 9:30 with Fr. Mark Murphy, and the Eucharist has been here in the chapel all day ever since. We do this each first Friday, and you are more than welcome to join us for Mass and/or prayer during the day. If you can't make it, you can also feel free to send me your prayer requests, as I am happy to bring your petitions to the chapel.
God bless your family and our school all year long!

They will help us know how to deliver your order and how you would like your rebate. These have to be filled out annually. In this video, families share stories about opportunities created by gift card fundraising, how easy it is to do every day, and how fast earnings add up
.

Update from our ELA teachers:
We are so excited for the 2019-2020 school year, and wanted to share some exciting updates regarding the English Language Arts curriculum. In order to better prepare students to thrive in high school English classes, we have consulted with Regis and St. Joseph Middle Schools to improve and align our curricula. Adding additional classroom and independent reading novels to LaSalle's ELA curriculum allows us to offer a wider variety of authors and genres, while simultaneously increasing academic rigor. One change your child may have already shared with you is the elimination of spelling tests in the 6
th
, 7
th
, and 8
th
grades. Student literacy and spelling will be assessed through book reports, research papers, journals and other writing assignments. This better aligns the Catholic middle schools ELA curricula, and also helps teach vocabulary and grammar within literary context through the various resources we utilize. We are confident that these changes will help students better understand parts of speech, word usage in different contexts, and broaden vocabulary usage in both speaking and writing.

Note from the Nurse:
Happy Fall!!!
I like to keep parents aware of what illnesses are going around our building. It is very helpful if when you call your child in sick you tell us their symptoms so we can look for common trends. We have had 4 diagnosed cases of hand, foot and mouth disease. This is a virus that begins with fever and stomach upset and then sores in the mouth and a rash with blisters on the hands and feet develop. We are cleaning our desk daily and we have the students wash their hands with soap and water several times a day. Please call me with any questions.
