Hello, Holy Family!
I am very pleased to share with you that we are finally very near to complete with all of our hiring for the 2019-2020 school year! In all honest, it has been a challenging summer with two people accepting
jobs and then needing to resign before the year started. With that said, we are so excited about our new team. I will send out more information about the new teachers very soon, but I wanted to send out an update on a few educators in our school system.
Mrs. Alyssa Lang (pronounced a-lee-sa) has accepted the position of Director of Early Childhood Education. She comes to us with 27 years in early childhood education both as a teacher of children and as a coach of early childhood teachers. She and her husband, Jeff, (also of 27 years) have been parishioners at St. Jude for 25 years, and their daughters, Nicole and Ashley, attended St. Jude, LaSalle, and Xavier. She loves to travel, especially to visit lighthouses and to visit their children in DesMoines. We are thrilled to welcome Alyssa to our team to lead our childcare and preschool into a truly outstanding program.
At LaSalle Middle School, I am elated to share that Monica Robinson will be sliding into the role of Lead Teacher, where we previously had an associate administrator. Monica, a servant leader, has demonstrated great leadership instincts, tremendous faith, and a love of LaSalle that is unsurpassed. This new role for her is a very organic step for her as she moves from learning strategist into this new role that will include discipline, scheduling, communications, and so on. While we have hired a new learning strategist in Monica’s absence, Monica will still continue to interact with students and monitor them, as this role is near and dear to her.
This new learning strategist, Mrs. Linda Zach (rhymes with lock), had the following greeting for you all:
Hello! My name is Linda Zach. I have many years of experience teaching students in all grade levels from preschool through high school. Most of my years have been in the middle-school setting. I grew up in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education degree from Northeastern Illinois University and a Master of Education in Teaching from Morningside College. I began my teaching career at the School of St. Mary in Lake Forest, Illinois. Since moving to Iowa, I have taught in a few public school districts.
Currently, I live in Ely, Iowa with my husband, Larry. My son, Marc and daughter-n-law Megan, reside in the Chicago area.
I enjoy reading, watching movies, loom knitting, traveling and spending time with family. I look forward to being part of the Lasalle Catholic Middle School family!
Finally, LaSalle has also hired a middle school science teacher in the wake of Mrs. Root’s recent and unforeseen departure. Ms. Maria McCarty will also be helping to facilitate and lead retreats for our middle schoolers. She wanted to say the following by way of introduction:
Hello everyone! I am Maria McCarty. I am graduate from the University of Northern Iowa. I grew up in a Catholic, farming family in Northwest Iowa. I am the youngest of six siblings and an aunt to 7 beautiful nieces and nephews. I enjoy hiking, singing, rock climbing, and slack lining. I am excited to work at La Salle and to be able to incorporate the faith into the science lessons.
We are finalizing a hire for 2yo childcare, and we will send communication about this educator soon.
We look forward to seeing you all at our back to school night next Thursday evening! It took a bit longer than expected to finalize the schedule details due to an unforeseen opportunity with Top 20 Training! The result, though, is that we will offer a presentation for parents and students with Mr. Kevin Brennan from Top 20 Training! Kevin is a national speaker, and among the best you will ever hear.
You will not want to miss this
!
I will be sharing some more updates about the year ahead soon here in the newsletter as well as in the podcast, so stay tuned!
God bless your family and our school all year long!
Zach Zeckser

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"

School Communication:
Each Friday afternoon you will receive our “Holy Family Happenings” via email. This is our primary communication tool to keep you informed of activities, important information, and reminders that you need to know for the upcoming week. Please be sure to read this carefully each week to stay updated; it is our expectation that all families will read this each week. We hope to not inundate you with many emails, but instead give you one place to find the information you need. As always, if there is information that simply can’t wait until the Friday newsletter, we will email that information immediately.
|
Holy Family Website:
Please go to our website so you will be informed of important information about our school. You will find our calendar, breakfast/lunch menu and other pertinent items about schools. Please frequent our site often so you will be updated on the activities at Holy Family!

:
Our classes run from 8:30 am-3:30 pm. Our first bell rings at 8:20 am to allow students to go to their locker and get ready for their day; a warning bell will ring at 8:28 am to remind students to get to class. If a student is not in their 1st period class when the 8:30 am bell rings, they will be considered tardy and need to report to the office. Students will be allowed in the building beginning at 8:00 am. All students should be picked up at dismissal time unless they have after school activities at LaSalle. Some students may need to be dropped off earlier and picked up later according to their schedule of school related activities (Band, Musical, Sports, Speech, Clubs, etc.).

Reminder for Parents of 7th graders:
Beginning 2013-2014 the State of Iowa began requiring all incoming 7th graders to have a Tdap. This is a tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis.
Beginning 2017-2018 students entering 7th grade need to have a meningococcal vaccination.
Many of your students may have already had these immunizations. We can't allow students to start school in the fall without these immunizations.
Please provide an updated immunization sheet to verify that your student has had these immunizations.
Please call or email me with any questions.
