Hello, Holy Family!
I hope you all felt the same buzz of excitement in the air that the staff and I could feel last night at Back to School Night! We are so thrilled to welcome back so many familiar faces as well as the many new friends that have joined us this year!
This year, in addition to some wonderful new staff, I am eager to bring some new growth to the school. You will undoubtedly notice changes throughout the year, and I am confident you will find them to be improvements to our community for your children.
Not least among these is our increasingly fortified relationship with Top 20 Training. Those of you who heard Kevin Brennan speak last night were able to gain a better sense of what Top 20 offers to our school. The four pillars of Top 20, things that we will be teaching to your children starting next week are:
1) Our #1 job is to help one another succeed
2) Communicate "you matter"
3) Honor the absent
4) See the problem, and own the problem
You may recall that we began teaching our students some "life hacks" like how to approach a guest to shake hands, and how to introduce themselves (part of our "four at the door training"). This is just one sample of the sort of things that we will be teaching our students within the four pillars, and these will impact the entire school year, and our school culture overall. Make no mistake. This is very good news for your children and for Holy Family!
I am sure you will notice other changes as well, and again, I am confident that you will find them to be improvements to the school community that we already love. Thank you, as always for partnering with us in the blessed work of raising these children into the best version of themselves into the person that God is calling each of them to be!
God bless your family and our school all year long!

School Communication:
Each Friday afternoon you will receive our “Holy Family Happenings” via email. This is our primary communication tool to keep you informed of activities, important information, and reminders that you need to know for the upcoming week. Please be sure to read this carefully each week to stay updated; it is our expectation that all families will read this each week. We hope to not inundate you with many emails, but instead give you one place to find the information you need. As always, if there is information that simply can’t wait until the Friday newsletter, we will email that information immediately.
|
Holy Family Website:
Please go to our website so you will be informed of important information about our school. You will find our calendar, breakfast/lunch menu and other pertinent items about schools. Please frequent our site often so you will be updated on the activities at Holy Family!

Breakfast:
Breakfast will be served at both LaSalle and St. Jude starting at 8:00AM. Breakfast options will be included on our Lunch/Breakfast menu.

Dear LaSalle Families,
I am very excited for the year to begin next Monday! It was great to meet a lot of you last night and seeing your families energized me for the start of the year.
I wanted to let everyone know that your students will not dress in their PE uniform the first week of school (August 26-30). After that your student will be expected to dress out for PE.
Fall Sports for 7th and 8th grade begin next week. Please get your physicals, concussion waiver and liability waivers turned in. Each form is good for a year. If any of those are not turned in or expired your student athlete will have to sit at practice until they have it in. Parents are also responsible for after game/meet/practice pickup for all sports. Make sure you are on time for pickup! Our coaches time needs to be considered as well.
Football starts Monday, August 26th at 4:30 pm. Due to the early out, your family will be responsible to get your student to and from practice on Monday. On Tuesday your student will be transported to practice and needing to be picked up after.
Volleyball, Boys Tennis, and Cross Country begin on Tuesday, August 27th after school. Cross Country is at Regis and your student will be bused there. You will be responsible to pick up after practice and meets unless the competition is in Iowa City. Volleyball will be after school in the LaSalle gym until 4:45 pm.
Boys Tennis will be at Roosevelt starting on Tuesday. We will have more information next week. We may be able to use busing but it depends on the schedule of their practices. Due to this uncertainty, parent volunteers may be needed to transport the students to the practices and competitions. If you would be willing to drive, we will need you to complete the volunteer training. Please contact me ASAP if you are able to help.
Thank you and I look forward to a great year at LaSalle!
In Christ,
Jason Dole
