Hello, Holy Family!
Each week, I reserve a bit of time to walk the halls and classrooms of our campus. It is really something to observe the variety of ways our teachers reach our children. The sort of learning and growth that happens, not only in their brains, but also in their hearts, is a powerful reminder of why we invest so much of ourselves in this work.
While we know that so long as there are schools, there will be room for improvement, I am struck by how our teachers continue to hone their craft as educators. This is true, not only of the teachers, but of all of the educators on our campus (food service, support staff, business office, pastors, everyone).
Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support! Your partnership (even the simple act of reading this newsletter) plays a critical role in the incredibly important work of raising up these wonderful children in our school. If you ever wonder how you could be a more engaged or involved school partner, I am sure we can find meaningful and enjoyable ways to share your gifts at the school as well!
Have a great weekend!
God bless your family and our school all year long!

LaSalle Middle School Test Retakes
Starting this fall, all classes/teachers at LaSalle will use the same test retake practice. We believe that what we have established for our students in this approach will help all students to be as successful as possible.
A given test may be retaken one time in any class with any teacher. When a student retakes a test, s/he will be able to recover half of the points missed in the initial test. Students will only be retested on the concepts that were missed on the initial test. Before a test can be retaken, all assigned work pertaining to that test must be turned in to the teacher. Students will have one week to discuss retakes with their teacher and one more week to actually retake the test (totaling two weeks from the time that the initial test is returned). Tests will generally be retaken during an active learner session with the teacher of the same test before or after school based on teacher and family availability. Tests that receive a “U” grade will necessitate a test retake, and all of the guidelines stated here apply.
Thank you for partnering with us to help your children to succeed, especially when it is most difficult, and they need us the most!

FAST TESTING:
The FAST screening window for 5th-8th grade students will continue through October 4th. During this time students will be given screening assessments to help us know which students may need additional support. The students complete screening assessments three times each year. These assessments help teachers see which students are likely to meet the end of year learning goals, and which ones need more help. Please be sure your students get adequate rest and nutrition during the screening window. Please be sure students are drinking water, eating well and getting plenty of sleep!
