PRINCIPAL'S LETTER  

D ear Holy Name Families,  
 
Happy 2019! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! Hopefully you were able to get some much deserved rest. It is so great to be back at school with your children.  

Reminders:
  • This Saturday, January 12th is our 7th and 8th Grade Social. We are still looking for some help setting up Saturday morning. We would also love to find 5 more chaperones to help that evening. Please click here to volunteer. 
  • Our General Parent Guild Meeting is next Tuesday evening, January 15th. We hope that you will attend!
  • Please note that we will observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 21st so there will be no school that Monday.
  • Our Catholic Schools Week Mass is Sunday, January 27th at 9:30AM.We ask that all students attend this mass in their uniforms. All families are invited to our Open House afterwards and our Science Fair in the gym. 
     
We hope your 2019 is off to a wonderful, happy, and healthy start!

THIS WEEK'S THURSDAY COLLECTION
This Thursday will benefit a non-profit called 'Mama Rescue '

Mama Rescue a non profit organization seeks to improve maternal health in various areas of Africa. It aims to reduce the three principal delays that lead to 75% of maternal deaths:  1. The Delay in seeking care; 2. The Delay in accessing care; 3. The Delay in receiving appropriate care at the hospital.    Mama Rescue is an  automated,  cloud-based platform  that facilitates transport for mothers in labor and communication between health centers and hospitals. We've created a scalable, sustainable, and user-friendly system using  existing infrastructure,  such as simple mobile phones and mobile money systems.


 
 

 
 
IS YOUR CHILD READY FOR KINDERGARTEN? 
Applications and assessments are currently under way for next year's kindergarten class. We would like to be able to hold your child's space for kindergarten before they fill up.  Please submit your application as soon as possible. The packets are available from the school office. Please call or email us at lcheetham@holynamesf.com. for one and we will send it home with your older child.

Raffle Tickets:Each student received in the Tuesday envelope 2 booklets of raffle tickets for 3 AMAZING prizes. Please make an effort to sell as many raffle tickets as possible. Additional tickets are available in the school office. 
1stPrize: Two Night stay at the SF Palace Hotel and $250 CASH ($1450 value)
2ndPrize: Two Night stay at the SF Grand Hyatt ($800 value)
3rdPrize: $250 CASH
The class that sells the highest percentage of raffle tickets will earn a Root Beer Float Party. Additionally, students will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a scooter.

for the 2nd annual San Francisco Tough Cookie 5K/1K Fun Run benefiting Holy Name before prices go up.

BOYS' BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT THIS SUNDAY
 Tickets are now on sale for this Sunday's basketball tournament against St. Cecilia. Tickets are $2.00 each and entitles ticket holders to Free Dress this Friday in red and black! Each player must have a ticket. There will be a rally in the afternoon. Tickets purchased on Sunday will be $3.00.
