D ear Holy Name Families,
I hope everyone had a restful three-day weekend. It was so great seeing so many of you at our Blessing of the Animals last week- the kids were full of smiles last Thursday! This Friday we are excited to offer our students the opportunity to go into a SkyDome Planetarium in our gym- be sure to ask them about it!

This afternoon please check your Tuesday envelopes for a copy of a Reunification Drill Letter that was sent home. This letter includes specific details so you know what to expect next Friday, October 19th. Please note that there will be no Extended Care next Friday so that we can ensure all families participate in the drill.
All families also received a flier in the Tuesday envelope regarding a Shoe Drive that we will begin tomorrow and end next Friday. All shoe donations will benefit the non-profit organization, My New Red Shoes. Shoe donations will be used for a service project during Create the Change Day. Create the Change Day is on October 21st at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. Create the Change Day Bay Area is a fun-filled service event for youth and families of all ages hosted by Project Giving Kids (PGK) , a nonprofit whose mission is to cultivate empathy in youth by connecting them to meaningful and age-appropriate service opportunities. This is a wonderful opportunity for all students, especially our junior high students who may need help fulfilling their service hours.

One of the best feelings is waking up and realizing that you can be happy even without the things you think you need..
Problems and hardships will still meet you in the course of the day, but God will give you the spiritual fortitude to ENDURE, SURVIVE and  yes even to SMILE..
With God's love, everything comes out perfectly all the time..
There's always something to be grateful for..
Count your blessings!
-Fr. Arnold

There is a public safety program called "Kids' Safe Zone", initiated by a former Taraval Police District Captain, Denise Flaherty. The purpose of the program is to provide children and youth who feel threatened, bullied, harassed, or otherwise afraid on our community streets a place to go in a partner-merchant's place of business. There, the merchant will contact the police and/or the child's parents or guardians.

There are several safe zones in the Outer Sunset - along Judah, Noriega and Sloat and the vicinity of Park Merced. Each Safe Zone is identifiable by the distinctive purple sign as seen above.

Student Council is hosting a fundraiser for the CatWalk. We will be having a chip sale on Friday, October 12th at both morning and lunch recesses. Chips will cost $1.This is not a paid Free Dress Day.

Also, the Student Council candy guess will start on October 19th and go through October 30th.
2 guesses for $1 or 5 guesses for $2.
