Another Successful Thrift Shop
Fall Festival and Christmas Market!

The annual Fall Festival and Christmas Market hosted by the Holy Nativity Thrift Shop took place on Saturday, November 14 in the community center gym. A wide variety of Christmas items as well as other merchandise hand-picked from Thrift Shop donations over the past year was offered to shoppers in lovely, holiday-themed displays.

The Fall Festival and Christmas Sale raises funds for local charities selected by the Thrift Shop volunteers and brought in over $16,000 this year! This year's event will benefit Family Promise, Meals on Wheels, and the Hawaii Domestic Violence Action Center. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will also be dedicated to the Church's capital improvement and maintenance fund.

Many thanks to ALL the volunteers who helped with the event -- we couldn't do it without you!

Angel Network Thanksgiving Dinner

Holy Nativity is helping Calvary by the Sea Lutheran Church provide a Thanksgiving dinner to local seniors, homeless persons, and others who would not otherwise have a special dinner on Thanksgiving.

Holy Nativity will donate five (5) side dishes and five (5) desserts to the meal.

We still need a couple more sides and desserts; please contact the Church Office to volunteer or see the sign-up sheet on the back table Sunday morning.

NOTE: Dishes/desserts must be delivered to Calvary by the Sea by 10 am on Thanksgiving Day. The church is located at 5339 Kalanianaole Hwy. (Please deliver hot dishes already heated.
Holy Nativity Facility Rental Rates to Increase
in 2016

Holy Nativity Church is honored to provide a place for the community to enjoy gathering, recreation, and exercise, especially for our young people. Our Community Center facilities -- gym, meeting rooms, and Osco Field -- have held countless sports practices and games, support groups, Scout meetings, family reunions, parties, and other events over the years. However, providing these facilities to the community has mostly been a labor of love as expenses regularly outstrip revenues. In order to make the Holy Nativity Community Center self-sustaining, we must begin to incrementally raise our rates.

Effective January 1, 2016, the new rate for the gym will be $45 per hour , which is still considerably lower than other gyms in East Oahu and other similar facilities. Rates for the other Holy Nativity Church facilities will be increased as well.

Church members and Church and School faculty and staff will receive a 50% discount on Community Center rental rates for events at which they are present.

If you have any questions, please contact Thrift Shop and Facilities Manager Caroline Bond Davis at 373-2131 or hntsmgr@gmail.com.
New Member
Information Session

Sunday, November 22
After the 9:30 am service

What does it mean to be a member of The Episcopal Church? A member of Holy Nativity Parish? This is an informal class, with time for questions and answers that will give you a clearer perspective on membership, church teachings, and Holy Nativity Parish programs and services. This class is not a requirement to become a member, but is a good way to get started and meet other newcomers.

To sign up, please contact the Church Office at 373-2131 or holynativity@gmail.com or put your name on the sign-up sheet on the back table on Sundays.
Advent Book Study
An Altar in the World
Nov 23 - Dec 21
Mondays at 6:30 pm
Wednesdays at 8:15 am

Rev. Vanover will lead an Advent book study for five weeks beginning the week of November 23 centered on the book An Altar in the World by Barbara Brown Taylor.

The study will meet each Monday at 6:30 pm in the Chapel OR each Wednesday at 8:15 am in the Rector's Office. Each class will be offered twice; participants may attend either series or mix and match to fit their schedule.

In the New York Times  bestseller  An Altar in the World,  acclaimed author Barbara Brown Taylor shares how she learned to find God beyond the church walls by embracing the sacred as a natural part of everyday life. In  An Altar in the World , Taylor shows us how to discover altars everywhere we go and in nearly everything we do as we learn to live with purpose, pay attention, slow down, and revere the world we live in.

To register for the book study, please contact the Church Office at 373-2131 or holynativity@gmail.com or watch for the sign-up sheet on the back table on Sundays.

Carroll's Island Christmas Trees will sell Christmas trees at Holy Nativity again this year, beginning on November 28th.  Weekday hours are 12-5:30pm and weekends are 10am-5:30pm. For more information, please click HERE.
