Holy Saturday Retreat

All times listed below are EST

Registration is required!

Registration closes March 19, 2025!

Dear Friends,

On what is theologically a day of deep mystery—the time between the Crucifixion and Resurrection—you are invited to come away with other meditators to the quiet of a day-long, Holy Saturday Retreat. Our day will follow the 7 prayer times of the Liturgy of the Hours (though we will start later in the morning to accommodate friends from all four US time zones). At each of the designated hours, there will be a short presentation followed by meditation. The presentations at each liturgical hour may include Poetry, Lectio Divina, Music, Icons or other Sacred Readings.

In between the live presentations, you will be invited to personal reflection, walking meditation, acts of kindness, gratitude, journaling, photography, and other contemplative practices to help you stay deeply centered, making this whole day an offering of your life. We will follow the Hours practiced by monks and mystics in monasteries, hermitages and homes as described in Benedicts Rule:

Liturgy of the Hours

9:00 am           Vigils

11:15 am         Lauds

12:30 pm        Terce

2:00 pm         Sext

3:30 pm          None

6:30 pm          Vespers with Communion

8:30 pm           Compline

All times are Eastern Standard Times, please convert to your time zone! Leading up to our day, you will receive weekly Voice-Memo’s to help you prepare for this sacred time. On Saturday, our Zoom-room will remain open for the entire length of the day (12.5 hours). You are welcome to stay connected for the whole day or come and go as you need to. All participants will be muted upon arrival to keep the silence we are creating together. Conversation and/or sharing may be part of some of the presentation times where you will be invited to share with the group. Sharing is always voluntary and not required.

Although this special opportunity is offered freely, we ask all who register to consider making a donation to WCCM-USA of $40 to help us present more events like this in the future. $1.00 per day for the season of Lent! You may make a donation through our Donate button on the WCCM-USA website (https://wccm-usa.org/support-our-work/). Please share this opportunity with others who may be interested.
