Upcoming Spring Events

Environmental Evangelism Commission

Other Environmental Evangelism Happenings:

  • The Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana is now a member of Gulf Coast Creation Care, joining through the Environmental Evangelism Commission. This partnership reflects our commitment to faithful environmental stewardship and connects us with a growing network of dioceses, churches, and faith communities across the region. EDOLA is now featured on their website alongside other member organizations.
  • Environmental Evangelism Commission met with the Creation Care team from St. George's Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. They are focused on planning interfaith worship services and growing Creation Care ministry within these congregations and the broader community.
  • The Environmental Evangelism Commission led a “Stations of the Cross in Nature,” connecting elements of the Passion to the natural world—flowing water for the washing of hands by Pilate, a heavy log for Jesus picking up His cross, a tree with stripped bark for stripping of garments,a stump for Jesus dies on the cross—while reflecting on present-day eco-crucifixions like deforestation, pollution, and climate-driven migration. At each station, the story of Christ’s Passion was shared, in remembrance that the Earth belongs to God.

Lay Leadership Conference

Imagine if the gifts needed for our Church’s future are already among us.

Rooted in Christ, Rising in Community is a three-day gathering that helps lay leaders identify spiritual gifts, deepen their formation, and gain tools to strengthen ministry in their congregations. Through worship, storytelling, and practical sessions, participants grow in confidence and clarity about their calling.

As each leader grows, our congregations grow stronger — and our diocese rises together.

Happenings Around the Diocese

Capital Campaign Kick-Off Event

at St. Luke's, Baton Rouge

March 21, 2026

St. Luke’s kicked off the public phase of its Capital Campaign with a joyful, well-attended event. The highlight was the “Big Reveal”: $2,315,200 has already been raised toward the campaign goal, plus $1 million from the church’s fire fund.

Held in Witter Hall and on the front lawn, the celebration included food, live music, a “Build Your Bubbly” station, and opportunities to view construction progress and sign structural columns. Good things are happening!

Pilgrimage to Jackson, MS

March 6-7, 2026

Pilgrims explored the complex history of enslavement and institutional racism through visits to the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, where they heard powerful firsthand testimony from Freedom Rider Hezekiah Watkins. At St. James Episcopal Church, participants engaged in meaningful conversation and fellowship, deepening connections and understanding. Thank you to all who participated in this transformative journey.
