"Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." - Psalm 96

Beloved People of God
We’re already waist deep, in fact, wading through a river that leads straight to the Easter Vigil, when we will kindle a new fire, light the year’s Paschal Candle, renew our baptismal vows, welcome a new member into the Body of Christ, and finally, finally, sing joyful praises with those words we’ve collectively abstained from the many weeks of Lent.
Amidst all the liturgical fanfare that captivates me heart and soul every Holy Week, there is something else that stirs a certain awe in me: people. People who show up night after night to carry a candle to illuminate the cross as it is processed through the church. People who show up to haul a table from the undercroft or stacks of chairs from St. Michael’s Hall into the narthex to prepare a most reverent altar of repose. People who proclaim holy Scripture as we tell our story of salvation. People who welcome and greet all who enter our church. People who arrange flowers and beautify our space, both inside and outside. People who craft the bulletins so that all who join us in prayer can participate fully. People who have essentially been pulled out of retirement to celebrate the Eucharist and preach regularly. People whose voices recall a heavenly host of angels. People who prepare and support a new priest in more ways than I can even begin to count. All God’s beloved people.
It is a vision of God’s holy church at work, and I am so blessed to serve among you and to walk with you this Holy Week.

From the Search Committee
|
|
Hello everyone and peace be with you,
As we begin to chart a course forward during this time of transition, the Search Committee has begun the search for the next Rector. We have had our first planning meeting. In the spirit of faith and prayer, one of our first decisions is to ensure that this process be both transparent and engaging. With this in mind, we ask that you join us at the 11:00 a.m. Solemn High Mass on April 24th where we will be officially commissioned to begin our service to you.
Those of us on the committee reflect the breadth of our community, from those who have joined us recently to others who have known Ascension as home for multiple decades. We are blessed to have the guidance of Father Kevin Caruso, the diocesan representative.
As the Search Committee begins its work, we ask that YOU keep us and the Church of the Ascension in your prayers. We will begin the process with a church assessment tool (CAT) to evaluate our past experiences, our present spirit and our needs as we look to the future. There will be multiple opportunities for you to offer your input, your prayers, and your voice. Please watch for these as they arise. Following the will of the Holy Spirit, we look to make this endeavor a joyful and positive path for our parish body.

UKRAINE CRISIS RESPONSE
Many of us are feeling helpless as to how to respond to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. One way to help Ukrainian families is by giving financially to Episcopal Relief and Development. Your donation will help provide cash, blankets, hygiene supplies and other needed assistance to families fleeing from violence in Ukraine.
And finally, pray. Pray hard for peace in Ukraine. For peace in all places of conflict and violence. And for peace in our own hearts.
Almighty God, kindle, we beseech thee, in every heart the true love of peace,
and guide with thy wisdom those who take counsel for the nations of the earth,
that in tranquillity thy dominion may increase till the earth is filled with the knowledge of thy love; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
