Throughout this season of Lent we have been asking a single question together:
What does resurrection love look like?
We have followed that love through the Gospel of John.
We saw it when Jesus called Lazarus from the tomb.
We saw it when he knelt to wash the disciples’ feet.
We saw it when fear, power, and the cross seemed to stand in its way.
Now we arrive at the week where the whole story unfolds.
Holy Week invites us not simply to remember these events, but to walk through them together. Each service offers a different window into the love of Christ: love proclaimed loudly, love shared at the table, love poured out on the cross, and love that breaks open the grave.
Below is a guide to everything happening at Central this Holy Week.
Palm Sunday (March 29)
Palm Sunday begins with joy and celebration as we remember Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. Our children’s choirs will help lead worship as we wave palms and sing “Hosanna.”
For CPC Kids:
• 9:15 am – Children’s Choir rehearsal in the sanctuary, then Sunday School
• 9:30 am – Sunday School (or after rehearsal)
• 10:20 am – All kids gather on the front lawn to process in with palm branches.
(Even if your child is not in our Children’s Choirs, we would love to have them process with us at the beginning of the service.)
• 10:30 am – Worship
After worship, the whole church is invited to stay for lunch and the annual Easter Egg Hunt:
• 11:30 – Lunch in the Fellowship Hall
(Chicken tenders, chicken poppers, pasta salad, fruit, cupcakes!)
• 12:00 – Easter Egg Hunt
(Meet in the Gathering Area for instructions by age group.)
Maundy Thursday (April 2)
• 7:00 pm Worship
On Maundy Thursday we will gather in the Upper Room and linger in Christ’s love. Through scripture, music, candlelight, and communion we will remember the night Jesus shared the table with his disciples and gave the commandment to love one another. This service is quieter and more reflective, creating space to pause before the events of Good Friday.
• Nursery opens at 6:30 pm
Good Friday
• 7:00 pm Worship
Good Friday leads us to the cross. This year we will join with our friends from First Presbyterian for a service centered on the Seven Last Words of Christ.
Through scripture, brief reflections, hymns, and choral music we will listen to the final words spoken from the cross and reflect on the depth of Christ’s love revealed there.
• Nursery opens at 6:30 pm
Easter Sunday
Easter morning is not the end of the story.
It is the moment everything changes.
In the quiet of the garden, before the world fully wakes, a voice speaks a single name, and in that moment grief turns to recognition and death gives way to life.
This is the day when hope is no longer something we wait for, but something we are sent to live.
We will begin the day at sunrise, gathering in the early light to proclaim the resurrection, and then return to celebrate together in a service filled with music, joy, and the good news that Christ is alive.
• 7:00 am - Sunrise Service at Cater's Lake
A short outdoor service as we greet the dawn and proclaim the good news that Christ is risen.
Families are welcome to come in pajamas.
(There will not be bleachers this year, so please bring chairs.)
• 7:30 am - Pancake Breakfast in the Fellowship Hall
• No Sunday School
• 10:30 am - Easter Worship in the Sanctuary
With choir, congregation, and the great hymns of Easter, we will celebrate the resurrection and the promise that God’s love is still at work among us, calling us by name and sending us into the world.
• Nursery opens at 10:00 am
• Children are invited to bring their Fish Boxes and place them at the front during the children’s sermon
From the table, to the cross, to the empty tomb, Jesus invites us to walk this road with him. We hope you will join us as we walk this journey of resurrection love.
Love in Christ,
Mandy
