Holy Week at Faith
Holy Week is an annual opportunity. Of all the weeks through the year, the Christian world likes to think of this upcoming week as a single journey. For you and me, there will much about this week that is the same as always. There is our work life, our volunteer life, our family responsibilities, and the bills keep coming. In fact, this year, tax day comes anyway. No special submission date for taxes for those who are Christian. AND, when Passover is falls over April 15 next year and Ramadan in 2022, there will be no reprieve for our siblings of faith either.

For them and for us, these holy seasons are fit around our busy lives not when they are most convenient. We are asked to slow down and stop and give a moment for holy mystery to have a place in our lives.

In that spirit, I hope you are making some time to enjoy Palm Sunday worship with us tomorrow, April 14 at 10:00 a.m. in our sanctuary. There will be palms of course and a wonderful service planned by Kathy Brotherton and Jennifer Hallberg and assisted by me.

Then, p lease join us for worship on Thursday night, April 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Wright Fellowship Hall when Jennifer Hallberg will be guiding us and the Filipino Fellowship as we walk through a shared meal and service. Rev. Glenn Sampayan and I will assist Jennifer in this service. In much of the Christian world there are separate services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday when we remember the journey as Christ walked to the cross and was crucified. On Thursday, we will combine those services into one with a meal together in a setting much like we would imagine that upper room and then remembering Christ death for us. This service does not end but rather will pause as we enter into a holy moment of contemplation as we anticipate and leave space for serendipity in our lives.

With our Easter service at 10 a.m. on Sunday in our sanctuary we will celebrate new life, possibility, and hope for humanity and all creation.

Would you consider joining us for some or all of these events? Would you consider inviting a friend to join you?

The good news of Jesus Christ is the hope we proclaim in Holy Week. You have an opportunity to grow in your faith and to share that hope with others in your life.

See you soon,

Pastor Kyle

Maundy Thursday Service 6:30 p.m. Next Week!
Jennifer Hallberg is leading our Maundy Thursday service of Communion, Community, and Cross. (not her name for it, just my description). Our Maundy Thursday service will be Thursday, April 18, at 6:30 p.m. Please bring a dish to share. We will once again do this service with the Filipino Fellowship with assistance from Glenn Sampayan and myself. The time has been set to allow us to conclude the service well before dark so those who do not like to drive at night can have ample time to return home.
