Holy Week Events

Maundy Thursday Service

This Thursday, April 2, our Maundy Thursday service will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. We will commemorate the Last Supper with communion and music by the Chancel Choir. The service will also be livestreamed through our YouTube channel. Childcare will be available.

Third Annual Good Friday Nine Church Pilgrimage

On Good Friday this week, we remember that we are dust…and that Christ has entered even the dust of our lives. You are invited to walk with us on a sacred journey of prayer, scripture, and reflection. Together, we will visit nine sacred spaces, pausing along the way to remember Christ’s path to the cross— his suffering, his humility, and his love poured out for the world. This is a intentional walk with fellow pilgrims—through beautiful historic sanctuaries, quiet streets, and the holy truth of Good Friday. We will end our sojourn at SCAPC at 11:45 a.m. so we can attend the noon Good Friday service. All are welcome. Please email Miriam@scapc.org for further information and a schedule for the morning if you are planning to participate.

Come walk.

Come pray.

Come keep watch at the cross.

We will begin at St. Mary's Assumption Church, 923 Josephine Street in the Lower Garden District, at 8 a.m.

Good Friday Service

Our Good Friday Service, commemorating Jesus’ crucifixion through scripture and song, will take place at 12:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Childcare will be available. The service will be livestreamed on our YouTube page.

Easter Services

We will celebrate Christ’s resurrection through word, song, and prayer in two identical worship services with special music by our Chancel Choir, brass quintet, and our new Centennial Organ. The 10:30 service will be livestreamed on our YouTube page. Please note that there will be no Sunday School, however childcare for children ages three and under will be available for both services.

Home Communion

Communion will take place at both morning services next Sunday, April 12. On that day through Wednesday, April 15, our pastors will be bringing home communion to those who are unable to attend worship. If you or someone you know would like home communion, please notify our parish associate, Miriam Hollar, at miriam@scapc.org.

The Latest from Aden

Last week, children from the SCAPC Nursery School visited the SCAPC Aden Program for Elder Care and helped celebrate Mr. Kris' birthday!

Times-Picayune Spotlight on YAV Program:

Your Pledge Dollars at Work!

Luke Kellett, a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA) Young Adult Volunteers program, was recently spotlighted in The Times Picayune for his work in the New Orleans community! The YAV program is one of SCAPC's community ministry partners and serves other partners including SCAPC's Aden Program for Elder Care, Okra Abbey, and the NOLA Wesley college ministry. Of the YAV program and Luke's involvement, Okra Abbey Director Benji Brubaker states, "The common thread through all of this is believing that all people are worthy of dignity and having their basic needs met." You can read the full article (if you are a Times-Picayune subscriber) under the YAV listing on our community ministry page.

New on April 12! HIDDEN VOICES: THE LESSER KNOWN WOMEN OF THE BIBLE

April 12-26 | Second floor conference room | Led by Ashley Brown

Many of the women in scripture appear only for a moment, sometimes unnamed, sometimes easily overlooked, yet their stories hold profound wisdom about courage, suffering, faith, and God’s surprising work in the world. In this class we slow down and listen carefully to these hidden voices. Through study and discussion, we explore how these women shaped the biblical story and what their experiences reveal about the lives of all people who seek to follow God faithfully today.

THE GOSPEL OF LUKE

February 22-May 17 | Phifer Library

Topic for April 12: "The Good Samaritan: A Way of Life" led by Richard Ashmore

Easter Story Cookies Recipe
