Members of the St. Paul's congregation have traditionally taken turns praying all night in the Mary Chapel on the evening of Maundy Thursday and into Good Friday morning. Generally, a person or a family would sign up for a one hour shift.
As with our other traditions, gathering inside, even in very small groups, cannot happen this year. But we can still symbolically spend the night in the garden with Jesus on the evening before his crucifixion.
If you will commit to pray at home or in the memorial garden for one hour between 8 PM on Thursday and 8 AM, on Friday, please go to the Facebook page to advise your fellow parishioners when you will be "on duty" in the virtual garden with our Lord. The lonely time in the wee hours of the morning will be hardest to fill, but it will be meaningful to know that every hour of the night is covered.
A limited number of persons can utilize the Memorial Garden until midnight Thursday. (Please, no more than two or three, widely spaced.) Thereafter, prayers will be offered at home only. Multiple persons and families can pray at the same time, but we hope to have the whole night covered. Should you wish to participate, go to the
where you can make your intention known.
