Happy Holy Week, Parkway People!

Palm Sunday was a GREAT kick-off to Holy Week! There were nearly 50 kids singing and waving palms, more food than counterspace at brunch afterwards (we're already thinking redesigns for a faster line next time!), and Easter baskets full of candy sent home, sitting on your counter, tempting you as you read this...

Beyond all the ways we have to measure the 'how many' of Palm Sunday, the energy of community was undeniable. So much of the good work, ministry, community, and growth at Parkway starts on days like Palm Sunday. It was a joy to be a part of it with you!

Looking ahead to the rest of the week, there are several other ways you can connect into the story of this week and connect into community. Take a look at what's coming up and see where you can jump into Holy Week at Parkway.

Wednesday, March 27th

Holy Week Morning Communion

8am – Chapel, First Floor of the Ministry Center

All are welcome and invited to a short service of prayer and Communion.

Thursday, March 28th

Maundy Thursday Service

7pm – Student Worship Center, Second Floor of Ministry Center

The name Maundy Thursday comes from the Latin word mandatum, meaning commandment or mandate. When we gather on Maundy Thursday, we celebrate Jesus’ last meal with his friends and followers, their first sharing in Holy Communion, and Jesus' words to them: “I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other. This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, when you love each other.” (John 13.34-35 CEB)

On Maundy Thursday, we will mark Jesus' new commandment by making and breaking bread together. Bread is often used as a symbol in Scripture – for life, for community, for the body of Jesus, and more. In exploring these meanings, working together to make bread, and then taking Holy Communion with that bread, this service will be a new attempt at getting closer to the meaning of Maundy Thursday.

Friday, March 29th

Good Friday Service

7pm – Worship Center

Good Friday marks Jesus' arrest, trial, crucifixion, and death. Although it might feel strange to call a day of betrayal, violence, and death 'Good,' it is a truth for all followers of Jesus – that God can be and is at work for good even in the worst of what people and the world can do.

This will be a service of hearing the story of Good Friday from the words of Scripture, of prayers, and music.

Sunday, March 31st

Easter Sunday Services

7am - Sonrise Service – led by Student Ministries – Parkway Gardens

9am & 10.30am – Easter Service – Worship Center

All are invited and welcome to celebrate Easter and Resurrection at Parkway!
