Holiday Gift Guide

Spread holiday cheer and appreciation to our dedicated teachers and staff! Send gifts or treats with your student, drop off gift cards at the front office, or email an e-gift card using their school email addresses.

Seeking inspiration? Home & School Club asked our amazing educators for their favorites, compiling a list of treats, preferred stores, and restaurants. Let's make this season extra special for those who enrich our Leigh community. Your kindness will surely brighten their days!

Join Our New Club Mentorship Program!

A new Club Mentorship Program has launched to help student club presidents — from STEM and Physics to LEGO — build both leadership and technical skills.

We’re seeking parents and community members with experience in areas such as:

  • Mentorship:
  • Architecture / Civil & Mechanical Engineering (Bridge Design & Structures)
  • Biomedical Engineering / Bioengineering / Biochemistry
  • Physics / Applied Engineering
  • Guest Speaker:
  • Astronomy
  • Lego

Your time and expertise can make a real impact. Mentorship is flexible, with brief monthly check-ins — in person or online.

Inside Leigh

Highlights from Principal Steingart

  • Nov Community Engagement: Leigh was celebrating a Week of Gratitude and continuing efforts with the Canned Food Drive.
  • Parent Engagement Efforts: Principal Steingart plans to brainstorm with parents and staff on new, creative ways to increase parent involvement.
  • Parent Survey Trend: See Survey Result below for details
  • Strength: Leigh showed strong results in “promoting academic success for all students.”
  • Improvement Area: A noted weakness was that “instructional materials reflect culture/identity”; Principal Steingart is exploring ways to create a more inclusive environment where students feel their culture and identity are represented.

Highlights from Teacher Representative, Ms. Smiley

  • Curriculum Update: Language Arts classes are beginning their final project on satire.
  • Grant: Physics teachers expressed appreciation for the HSC grant that supported the Trebuchet project.
  • Nov Campus Highlights: Class Talk covered the rivalry game, upcoming Thanksgiving break, yearbook sales, and Senior Salutations.
  • Yearbook Reminder: Fall sports photos are still needed for the yearbook.

Highlights from CUHSD Liaison, Elizabeth Halliday

  • Board Governance: A new election of board officers will take place at the December meeting.
  • Policy Monitoring: The board continues to track developments at the federal level with the Department of Education.

Save the Date

Our next Home & School Club meeting will be on Jan 26, 2026 at 7 p.m.

Please come mingle with parents, connect with Principal Steingart, and see what we have coming up in the new year. We will also be looking ahead to the needs of the 2026/2027 HSC Board and Committees. We have key vacancies next year that we must fill to continue the great work of the HSC.

Minutes from past meetings and dates of upcoming meetings can be found on the HSC website.
