Help Us Reach Our Giving Drive Goal
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Annual Giving Drive!
As of September 27, we have raised:
- Annual Giving Drive has raised $19,193 toward our $30,000 goal.
- Company Matching has raised $1,800 toward our $10,000 goal.
We need your help to reach our goal! Please consider donating to the Home & School Club to make a lasting impact at Leigh. Every donation goes directly to benefit the Leigh High School community. This is our primary fundraiser for the 2024-25 school year, and we are deeply grateful for your continued support.

You can also donate by check. Make checks payable to Leigh Home & School Club and mail to: Leigh Home & School Club, 5210 Leigh Ave, San Jose, CA 95124.
Company Donation Matching + Stock Donations
Did you know? Approximately one-fourth of our donations for this drive come from company matching. See if your employer will match to double your impact.

The meeting kicked off with a round of applause, celebrating Leigh High School's recent announcement as a recipient of the National Blue Ribbon Award. Leigh is one of only 13 high schools in California to receive this prestigious honor.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Every year since the Program was established in 1982, the U.S. Department of Education has sought out and highlighted schools that are demonstrating that all students can achieve to high levels.

The Home & School Club funded a BBQ lunch for the Leigh staff on Sept. 20. Staff enjoyed a delicious spread that included tri-tip, chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, salmon burgers, veggie burgers, and a variety of tasty sides.

CHUSD Board Meetings are scheduled on the first and third Thursday of the month in the district office. Meetings are live-streamed and recorded. Meeting highlights and recordings are available in the CHUSD community newsletter.
-
Cell Phone Policy: Our district has developed new procedures around the use of cell phones. Use of cell phones for any purpose is prohibited during the school day except for lunch and passing periods. Thank you to parents for supporting this policy.
-
Curriculum Alignment: To ensure that all students across the school district are receiving rigorous instruction, Math and English teachers have come together to establish common course expectations. This has involved creating an agreed upon common list of priority standards and common assessments. A similar process will occur for other subjects in the future.
-
Strategic Plan: The Board of Trustees is working with staff to develop a long-term strategic plan.
-
Measure P: A Bond measure is on the November ballot and, if approved, would provide much-needed funding for facilities repairs and modernization. View the district presentation to learn more.

-
Football game: Everyone wore neon to the Sept. 4 game. It was a blast.
-
Recognized National Recovery Month: Students held a noon-time activity where they shared resources and gave out brownies to incentivize students to visit a booth on substance disorder recovery.
-
Student elections: Freshman students elected a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. It was a competitive event with many candidates.
-
Leigh's homecoming dance will be Oct. 19. Dress is semi-formal.

At the September Home & School Club meeting, the HSC endorsed Measure P and also approved donating $2,000 towards the campaign.
Measure P is a bond on the November 2024 ballot that:
- Addresses CUHSD’s critical facilities and technology needs. The year-to-year operating budgets allow for maintenance, but not major repairs, upgrades, or new construction.
- Qualifies our community for state matching funds, maximizing local tax dollars. Matching funds are only available if CUHSD has a Bond in place.
A campaign committee of citizens was formed to advocate for the bond. Find more information about Measure P or endorse and/or volunteer to phone bank or take a yard sign.
