Celebrating Back-To-School

HSC Kick-off Meeting

We would like to thank everyone who came to our first Home and School Club (HSC) meeting of the year. More than 35 people attended our first meeting and it was so nice to see all of you!

We welcome and rely on your involvement to help support our Leigh Community. Please join us for our next meeting on Monday, Sept. 23 at 7p.m in the LHS library.

Back-To-School Highlights

Curious about what the first days of school looked like for our students? Check out the warm welcome they received when they returned from summer break.

A huge thank you to all the students, staff, and volunteers who worked so hard to make these events happen. Thank you also to HSC volunteer Mindy Chan for producing this video!

Bond Presentation To Leigh Community

Measure P is a Bond on the November 2024 ballot that:

  • Addresses CUHSD’s critical facilities and technology needs with no other current funding for upgrades,
  • Qualifies our community for state matching funds, maximizing local tax dollars.

Vote Yes on Measure P to improve the quality of local education at Boynton, Branham, Del Mar, Leigh, Prospect, Westmont, Campbell Adult/Community Education, and Camden Post-Secondary High Schools with upgraded classrooms, labs and facilities.

What Will Measure P Do?

  • Provide modern labs/career technical facilities and equipment to better prepare students for college and in-demand careers in health sciences, engineering, technology, and skilled trades
  • Make repairs to older classrooms/school facilities including deteriorating roofs, plumbing, sewer, heating, ventilation, and electrical systems
  • Update classrooms, facilities/technology needed to support high-quality instruction in math, science, and engineering
  • Upgrade older schools so they meet current health/building safety codes, and provide proper access for students with disabilities
  • Improve student safety/campus security including emergency communications systems, smoke detectors, fire alarms and sprinklers
  • Replace aging, deteriorating and costly to maintain portable classrooms that are creating safety issues, with permanent classrooms that meet today's academic standards

Passing Measure P qualifies CUHSD to receive millions in state matching funds when they become available, leveraging tax dollars even further.

A campaign committee of citizens was formed to advocate for the bond. Find more information about Measure P or endorse and/or volunteer to phone bank, take a yard sign, or canvas in your neighborhood.
