Establishing yourself as a professional in the field of Home Inventory Services is key to your success. You want to demonstrate a high level of professionalism across all aspects of your business from your Logo to your final product. In this issue we'll discuss some important items such as your logo, appearance, final product and membership in professional organizations. In the last issue of our newsletter we discussed the importance of having a website. A website is very important to your professional image because it lets the world know that you serious about your business. In addition, it provides an easy way for prospective clients to get further details about your services at any time of the day or night. Did you know that statistically many people won't do business with a company that does not have a website?
Let's start with the importance of your Logo. The importance of having a logo is often overlooked by new business owners but it is very important. Take a look at your local town newspaper and review some of the advertisements. You will likely see some advertisements with a catchy logo and others with no logo at all. What is your impression when you compare the two? For example, take two ads offering painting services, one with a logo and one without. Most people will immediately identify the one with the nice looking logo as the more professional and better service.
Your logo also helps to establish your identity and gives you the opportunity to stand out. Don't overlook the importance of having your own custom logo created. Use your snazzy new logo consistently on all of your materials such as business cards, letterhead, ads, signs, shirts etc... and you'll easily establish yourself as a serious professional in the field of Home Inventory Services.
Your appearance and that of your employees is also very important. You should be easily identified when arriving at your client's homes. We suggest that you have magnetic signs created for your vehicle including your new logo and place them on your vehicle prior to any client visits. It is also a good idea to leave them on all the time as this will provide free advertising and community awareness of your business. We also suggest that you put together a casual dress theme for you and your employees. A simple combination of tan pants or shorts and a white polo shirt (embroidered with your company logo) works well.
Your final product is definitely the most important aspect of your business. It is very important that your clients are completely satisfied. Take great care to ensure the accuracy of your home inventory reports and always encourage clients to give them a thorough review. Make sure your clients know that you would be happy to make any corrections or updates and quickly provide a set of updated reports. You'll also want to put together a nice folder and/or binder containing the contents of your client package. Shop around the large office stores and check out all of your options. Some people prefer glossy pocket folders or custom paper binding options while others prefer using a classic 3- ring binder to package their product. You can easily create a professional final product by simply including your home inventory reports and client information package (contained on your Resources CD) in a 3 ring binder. You can also save yourself the trouble of paper punching by purchasing printing paper that is already 3-hole punched. If you buy a view 3-ring binder, you can slide a cover sheet into the clear sleeve on the front cover. Take a look at your Home Inventory Business manual and you'll get the idea. A cover sheet containing your client's name, address, exterior home photo and your logo adds a nice professional touch to your package. Last but not least, consider joining professional organizations such as your local Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce and NAHIP. Organizations such as these lend credibility to your business and provide excellent networking opportunities at their various functions and meetings. Make sure you mention your membership in literature and advertisements so your clients and potential clients are aware that you belong to these groups.
