home repair programs

San Diego Habitat is offering Home Repair Programs to the communities of Logan Heights and El Cajon. The programs include Home Preservation and Critical Home Repair and are available to homeowners who reside in their home. The home repairs are based on need and may include roof, window, and fence repair/replacement, electrical and weatherization improvements, and accessibility improvements. To qualify, you must live in the specified communities, earn under 80% of the area median income (listed on the flyers accessed below), be willing to partner with Habitat, and have a need for home repairs. Click the buttons below for information on each community.
If you have any questions or if you would like to apply for the programs, please contact Jasmine Habis at jasmine.habis@sandiegohabitat.org or 619.283.4663 x152.
AmeriCorps opportunities

AmeriCorps is a year-long national service program that allows members to partner with local nonprofits to get things done in the community. San Diego Habitat is proud to partner with AmeriCorps for this upcoming year as we look to place eight service members at our organization, serving out on the construction site, in the community working with families, coordinating volunteers throughout our programs, and building capacity at our ReStores.

The benefits include:

  • Valuable experience working with a nonprofit
  • A living stipend paid biweekly
  • A $400 monthly rent stipend
  • An education award to use towards student loans or future education
  • Health benefits
  • Professional development opportunities

summer build fund drive
Olympia and Brent have been community activists for many years, supporting organizations and groups who offer assistance to marginalized communities. With housing prices and rent steadily increasing, they are legitimately concerned about being priced out of their own neighborhood. Olympia has worked at Scripps Memorial Hospital monitoring pre- and post-intervention heart rhythms for the past 6 years. Brent is a stay-at-home dad and spinal cord injury survivor. He has learned to walk, write, and even drive again through great effort and multiple surgeries. Their new Habitat home will be the first place they’ve ever lived in with accommodations for his disabilities.

According to Olympia, “Owning a home means security for our family. It means hope. Owning a home provides us with a stability that was not certain in our future before. Our commitment to serving the Barrio Logan/Logan Heights community will be intensified and renewed by owning a little piece of it. With this home, we are provided with new opportunities for growth.”
