Drowning

We know that children can drown in as little as an inch of water. Drowning is the number one cause of death among children ages 1 to 4. We all think about bathtubs and pools, but we also need to remember toilets, buckets of water and water collecting outside.

Gun Safety

Roughly a third of U.S. homes with children have guns. In fact, nearly 2 million children live with unlocked, loaded guns. In 2017, at least 285 children got a hold of a gun and inadvertently shot themselves or someone else.

Falls/Furniture Tipovers

The most common non-fatal injury seen in the ER in young children are related to falls. Over the past 10 years a child visited the ER every 45 minutes for an injury related to a TV tipover.

Burns/Fire Safety

Close to half of all house fires, start in the kitchen. Working smoke alarms reduce the chances of dying in a fire by nearly 50 percent.

Choking Hazards

Food accounts for over 50% of choking occurrences. But we all know that other small objects can cause choking as well.
