Donate Today to Help More Families Like Michelle's

Sponsors, Board Members, Michelle and her family, and Habitat employees break ground together on Michelle's future lot!

Hello Jessica!

In our quest to provide homes and hope in Alachua County, September 12th marked a significant stride. Michelle's Golden Shovel Groundbreaking Ceremony, with the unwavering support of our community, filled the air with optimism. Heartfelt thanks to Pepine Gives, from Pepine Realty, for sponsoring Michelle's home, making a profound impact on affordable housing.

Kudos to our Board Treasurer, Ben Phillips, for a touching site blessing that resonated deeply. And our gratitude goes to State Representative Yvonne Hinson for her moving speech and unwavering presence in our community. Your support is cherished.

Introducing our Newest Homeowners

Shinda

Shinda is a determined mother of three amazing boys, who firmly believes that everyone deserves a decent and affordable place to call home. She has been diligently working in the Custodial Department at the Tacachale Developmental Disability Center. She dreams of providing a stable and loving home for her family where they can thrive without fear of violence or uncertainty. Her determination has guided her to the Habitat program where she has cherished the experience of earning sweat equity hours.

Michelle

Michelle has faced a journey of perseverance, hustle, and strength- a testament to the hardships faced as a single mother struggling with housing insecurity. Michelle was determined and secured a job at Amazon as a delivery driver, earning her a sense of stability. After months of hope and waiting, she was approved for our homeownership program. Michelle's journey exemplifies the spirit of resilience, the power of faith, and the fulfillment of dreams. Because of her determination and support, she was able to provide herself and her children with a safe and stable home.

Timerra

Let us introduce you to a remarkable Gainesville native, Timerra, who has dedicated herself to work and her amazing daughters, Gelainia (11) and Gabrielle (9). Tierra has been a devoted employee at Shand's Environmental Service Department for five years. Due to the rise in rental costs, she was forced to move multiple times, but her determination and hope for her own safe, affordable, and spacious home led her to apply for our homeownership program. Since then, she has immersed herself in the Homeownership Program to gain insight into the different tasks regarding repairs and maintenance for her home.

Workshop Day

We are beyond grateful for the knowledge and essential skills that the Community Weatherization Coalition (CWC) shared with our future homeowners. Their support and contributions has enabled us to take a significant step toward our mission of creating lasting, positive change in our community.

Our future homeowners have had the opportunity to participate in a Weatherization class where they became knowledgeable with the tools they need to thrive in their new homes. It's not just about giving them a place to live; its about ensuring they have the resources to build a brighter future.

Florida Victorious x Alachua Habitat for Humanity

Florida Victorious, the NIL Partner of the Florida Gators, generously provided tickets to the Florida v. McNeese State Football game! Featured are two of our homeowners, Gloria and Markesha, along with their families sharing cheers and support for the same players who lent their hands to building our homes. This partnership represents a remarkable circle of support and connection.

Our partnership with Florida Victorious has been an absolute game-changer, and we are overwhelmed with appreciation for the support and collaboration that have left a lasting mark on our community.

Staff Build Day!

Our team united for an enriching Staff Build Day! We enthusiastically engaged in a diverse range of projects, from caulking door frames and painting doors to constructing cabinets, all geared toward enhancing the homes of families in need within our community.

However, this day meant much more than just physical work. This day offered our staff a unique opportunity to give back to our organization and served as the perfect occasion to strengthen our team bond.

Why we do what we do:

A $10,000 increase in housing wealth raises the probability of college attendance by 14%

At Alachua Habitat, we believe that everyone deserves safe and affordable housing. With the help of our amazing volunteer and donor base, we are able to build homes with mortgages 30-40% lower than market rates.

When you volunteer with us and donate to our cause, YOU are giving the gift of homeownership to another family in our community!
