“For the holidays, you can’t beat home sweet home.” As we tune our hearts to the holiday spirit—and our Bluetooth speakers to Bing Crosby or Michael Bublé—at Keys to Change, we’re reminded of how special home truly is.

This season, you can provide the gift of home to a neighbor in need by helping them reconnect with loved ones.

The Keys to Change Diversion Program helps individuals experiencing homelessness reunite with family or friends, offering them a lifeline, often before they spend a single night on the streets. Whether it’s a bus ride across the state or a plane ticket overseas, your generosity makes this life-changing assistance possible.

Thanks to the support of compassionate donors like you, we’ve already seen incredible stories of reunification:

Luke* is returning to his home abroad after coming to the U.S. in search of his son.
Jackie* reconnected with her sister in the Pacific Northwest and is now safe at home after escaping domestic violence.
Ezra* was welcomed home by a friend, having previously struggled with addiction following the death of his mom.

Medina Dixon, Brian Garcia Welcome Center Manager, sees first-hand the impact a diversion can have. “Diversions are important to our clients because they provide a second chance at starting over,” says Medina. “Being with family or friends fosters a sense of stability and comfort, reducing feelings of isolation or loneliness that can make matters worse during this tough time.”

$50 provides a suitcase and snacks for a bus ride home.
$100 provides a nonstop bus ticket to reunite with loved ones.
$500 provides a plane ticket and a taxi ride home.

Keys to Change serves as the primary access point for single adults experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County, offering a comprehensive range of programs that tackle physical, behavioral, mental, financial, and/or legal barriers that hinder long-term success. Keys to Change also leads Key Campus, a consortium of 15 nonprofit organizations working collaboratively to meet the needs of individuals working to end their homelessness.
