As a board member for the Somerville Community Corporation, I often make a case for supporting the organization.
Despite the fact that it has been a trying year for everyone - perhaps precisely because it has been such a difficult year - supporting SCC is even more important.
We hope you will consider giving at whatever level you are able to give to maintain affordability and diversity in the city.

For many of us, the holiday season is the one chance we get each year to celebrate all that is good in this
complicated world with family and friends. This holiday, 35 families are celebrating moving into their new homes at the Union Square Apartments.
Read my CEO Forum about this, and put the
January 5, 2017, ribbon cutting ceremony on your calendar.
This month we also provide an update on the Clarendon Hill/North Street redevelopment project and share SCC Board Member Stephanie Toews-Moeling's piece on why she gives to SCC and hopes you will. We also get an update on Raise Up MA and the Fight for $15.
Take care, have great holidays and we will be in touch in the new year.
Sincerely,
SCC CEO Daniel LeBlanc

More importantly, that meant that 35 deserving households would get to move into their new housing for the holiday season.

Raise Up MA and the Fight for $15
|
On November 29, the Raise Up Massachusetts coalition announced that it will be introducing legislation next year to raise the state minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2021.
This would affect almost one million low-wage workers in the state, including many in Somerville working in the restaurant and retail industry.
