Valero Energy: Fueling Hope Through Service

Valero Energy has been a steadfast and compassionate partner to the Long Beach House. Over the years, Valero’s team has gone above and beyond beautifying our garden, donating playground equipment and patio furniture, and preparing meals that offer a taste of home to those staying with us. Their commitment extends beyond contributions, reflecting a deep-rooted culture of service.

This spirit is exemplified by Christine James, Vice President & General Manager of Valero Wilmington Refinery and LBRMH Board Member, who shares, “I’m proud to be part of a team that shows up and helps out when needed. Our goal is always to make RMH-LB feel like home for every family who walks through its doors.”

This commitment to care is also deeply personal to Brissa Sotelo, Valero’s Director of Community Relations & Strategic Partnerships, who shared her own story—having once been supported by LBRMH when her son was hospitalized nearby. Today, Valero volunteers bring the same warmth and values from their own homes to ours, whether offering a comforting meal or a quiet moment in the garden.

We are also grateful for the recent $50,000 grant from Valero’s Benefit for Children Fund, raised during their Valero Texas Open. This generous funding is helping replace our aging roof, upgrade flooring in our administrative spaces, and supporting families attending Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times. We thank Valero for being our Bronze Sponsor for the 2025 Walk for Kids. We are honored to count Valero among our most devoted champions.

Walk with us on Saturday, May 3rd at the 2025 Walk for Kids annual community fundraiser to support the children and families who rely on the life-changing services and programs provided by LBRMH.

Join this week's challenge to help us reach $220,000 by Friday, April 25. If we hit our target, all Walk donors and registrants will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 Amazon gift card!

Honoring Our Mission, Embracing New Leadership

We were thrilled to welcome nearly 70 community members on Thursday, March 27th for a special evening celebrating our new Executive Director, Nina Patel. The event marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the LBRMH, filled with optimism, connection, and shared purpose. Guests had the opportunity to hear from Nina as she shared heartfelt insights into her professional journey and the deep passion she brings to our mission. Nina shared, “I hope that you will allow me to join you in keeping this house a place of love, joy, courage, and hope.”

As we look ahead, we’re excited to have Nina’s compassionate leadership guiding our efforts to support families when they need it most.
