Homelessness Awareness Month
|
Together, We Made a Big Impact
Homelessness Awareness Month is a time to reflect on the challenges faced by individuals without stable housing and to explore how we can make a difference. In Georgia, approximately 12,294 people experience homelessness on any given night, equating to about 9 individuals per 10,000 residents.
Thanks to supporters like you, this month we've made meaningful strides in addressing homelessness across Georgia. Your dedication - whether through volunteering, donations, or raising awareness - has helped HomeAid Georgia continue building new beginnings for our neighbors in need.

A Busy Fall Full Of Care Days
Care Days at International Women's House
In the last month, HomeAid has hosted three Care Days at International Women's House (IWH), with a total value of $26,494!
Strack and Professional Women in Building (PWB) partnered to tackle the first Care Day on September 13. Brightwater Homes joined us on November 8, and Home Depot accompanied Loudermilk Homes for the final Care Day on November 15.
| |
Through these three Care Days, IWH received fresh paint throughout the entire facility, including all seven resident rooms, new flooring and cabinets, and repairs.
Special thanks to Sherwin Williams for donating 100 gallons of paint, Elite Flooring and Brightwater Homes for donating flooring, Timberlake Cabinetry for donating cabinets, and Home Depot for offering discounts on materials.

Care Day at Beloved Atlanta
Huge thank you to SEI Group, DT Builds, and Brand Vaughan Lumber for participating in this Care Day at BeLoved ATL!
These groups installed new kitchen cabinets and countertops, painted the interior of three resident homes, and completed landscaping work around the property. This donation of materials and labor, as well as other donations from Lifecycle Building Center and Sherwin Williams, came to $16,529 in savings!

Care Day at Georgia Works
We had the pleasure of working with our friends, Ashton Woods, who installed framing at Georgia Works during a Care Day on November 1.
Georgia Works ends homelessness, criminal recidivism and dependency through programs aimed at personal development in good habits, work ethic and character. Our goal is self-sufficiency.

Demolition at Breakthru House
|
Demolition on November 6
We are excited to announce this demolition, which marks the beginning of a new project with Breakthru House!
Breakthru House’s mission is to provide gender specific comprehensive treatment to women and their children who present with the co-occurring disorders of substance abuse, mental illness, poverty, homelessness and trauma. This population is often underserved due to the complexities of their needs and the barriers they face with limited access to comprehensive services.
| |
Thank you Strack and J. Mitchell Contracting for leading the demolition and grading, and Taylor Morrison for taking the role of Builder Captain on this project.
Two CareKit Events in November
The Northview Church in Roswell, GA packed 1,000 CareKits with their 25 teen volunteers, pictured below. These kits were distributed to DeKalb Library Foundation and St. Vincent de Paul of Georgia.
On November 13, the GAHBA Young Professionals Group (YPG) packed an additional 500 CareKits with us for St. Vincent de Paul of Georgia.
