On September 11, HomeAid Georgia was proud to raise a flag to celebrate the completion of the tiny home in Dahlonega that FFI Framing, Builders FirstSource, MTW Cabinets, and Stuart Pro Heating & Air helped make possible for a Veteran named Fred Bettis.

Fred gave all he had to care for his wife during her battle with cancer and then lost his home when a tree fell on it. He was living in a camper without power or running water and is thriving in his new home.

Thank you to HOMES 4 HEROES and Community Helping Place for inviting HomeAid Georgia to help with this meaningful project.

A group of 38 volunteers from DRB Homes, CBRE, and Sherwin-Williams came together for a Care Day on September 18 to tackle interior painting for Rainbow Village's Community Center, helping refresh the center as Rainbow Village is getting ready to expand and serve twice as many families.

A special thank you to DRB Homes and trades for framing and closing in an open space to make a closed off storage area.

Rainbow Village transforms the lives of families experiencing homelessness by providing help, hope, housing and healing in order to instill initiative, self-development and accountability that will foster meaningful growth.

The Home Builder Finance team at Regions Bank assembled 500 CareKits on September 10 for The Place in Cumming. The Place helps individuals and families meet immediate basic needs while working toward long-term self-sufficiency.

On September 15, Vystar Credit Union packed and distributed 500 CareKits to North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC). Through a range of programs and services, NFCC helps prevent hunger and homelessness and create stronger futures for thousands of people each year.

Volunteers from Athens Area HBA partnered with Athens Area Habitat for Humanity for a Care Day at Lydia’s Place on September 23. Together, they helped prepare two additional cottages for concrete pours.

These cottages are part of a 15-cottage community being constructed to provide housing for youth aging out of foster care.

On September 24, Weissman P.C. assembled 500 CareKits that were distributed to first-time HomeAid Georgia CareKit recipient, Community Movement Awareness, Inc. The organization empowers youth, families, and communities through education, advocacy, and essential resources while bridging gaps for brighter futures.

HomeAid was honored to be a moderator for the Developer Roundtable at the GIPPC Faith-Based Community Development Symposium on September 17. 

The discussion focused on demystifying the reliance on state funding to get single-family home projects funded, including practical models for Faith-Based Organization's developer partnerships.

Panelists included Joel Dixon, Principal at Urban Oasis, Jim Jacobi, Founder & CEO at Parkland Communities, and Jordon Tench, P.E., Director of Land Acquisition and Development at O'Dwyer Properties.
