With the tragic fires in Butte County, we are all reminded of how life can change in an instant.   November is Homelessness Awareness Month and there are many ways you can be a part of the solution to help those impacted by the fire and here are  some links to service organizations where you can help.

According to the National Law Center on Homelessness, every year alone over 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness, and well over 1 million of them are children. The causes of homeless are many, including major disasters like the Camp Fire, job loss, lack of affordable housing, medical crisis, domestic abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder in veterans.

"For the richest country in the world to allow so many to go unfed and unsheltered is a national tragedy, and one we can do something about," said Peter Simons, CEO of HomeAid America. "HomeAid's Homelessness Awareness Month is a time to learn about homelessness, have a genuine discussion about solutions, and provide opportunities to take action to provide safe, dignified housing and support services needed to rebuild lives."
HomeAid Thanks the Richmond American Homes Team!
This past month, Richmond American Homes & their trade partners remodeled a SafeQuest shelter for families experiencing domestic violence, transforming this house  into a welcoming home for the families. SafeQuest Solano, is a dual Domestic Violence  & Sexual Assault Agency that serves all of Solano County.

The remodel included improvements to the interior including flooring, painting and new appliances and exterior work including painting and roofing at a value of over $75,000!  The Richmond American Homes team went above and beyond by  designing the interior spaces for a turn key move-in for the families with all new linens,  furniture and a stocked pantry! Jerry McCarn of Richmond American Homes even  built a nook set for the families!  Thank you for your support!
Hundreds of toys donated to Shepherd's Gate!
Thank you to the BIA Bay Area PASS committee and to everyone who donated hundreds of toys to the children of Shepherd's Gate!  Thank you to the Young Men's Service League who helped load the toys on the truck - and to the raffle prize winners who donated their winnings back!
Carol Patterson, CEO of Shepherd's Gate was so grateful that the children will be filled with so much joy this holiday.  Thank you.
