Greetings! I pray that our first edition of the HomeWork in 2022 finds you in the favor of the Lord. I am so grateful for not only what the Lord has allowed us to accomplish in 2021, but I am eagerly anticipating GREATER in 2022. This promises to be an exciting year as we endeavor to increase our reach engaging in meaningful ministry! I look forward to partnering with you as we continue as a family of faith believing God for exceeding, abundantly above all we can ask or think according to the power that works in us!

Member Spotlight:
Sis. Marilyn Caruthers
We are excited to celebrate Sis. Marilyn Caruthers this month! This S.A.S.S.Y. sister shared that Psalm 91 is her family’s go-to scripture to pray when someone is going through a crisis. This is also Sis. Caruthers’ favorite scripture because she has always felt the protection of the Lord throughout the years and during different experiences in her life. She stated, “No matter what is happening, and what may be going on around me, I know that He always has me and my family covered.”
Sis. Caruthers is the wife of Leonard Caruthers, a proud mother of 4, a loving grandmother to many (they call her Gi-Gi), and she is blessed to have her eldest and only son as her Pastor!
Being a songstress and musician, she has always loved the music ministry within the church. Sis. Caruthers sang in the choir, as well as from the audience! She recalls a fond memory at The Home. “When I was physically able, I enjoyed playing the piano for the Sweet Home male chorus.” She humbly continued, “I love being at Sweet Home. Through technology, I haven’t missed a service! I look forward to the time when I am physically able to return to in-person worship.”
Sis. Caruthers shares wise words as she testifies of God’s healing and keeping Power. “Having survived a serious illness that I thought was going to end my life, I almost let go. The medical personnel acknowledged that a miracle, which they couldn’t explain, had taken place! And on the other side of that illness, I realized what a miracle-working God we serve! I admonish everyone, even at your weakest moment, to hold on to your faith. As I was welcoming death, I was reminded that I could not put a period where God had only placed a comma.” To God be the Glory!!

Ministry Highlight - Christian Education
This month we are celebrating our Christian Education ministry. Under the leadership of Rev. Beauty Ervin as the Minister of Christian Education, and Sis. Gail Mangum as the Superintendent, this ministry facilitates the adult and youth Church-At-Study programs, our Sweet Home Institute, and the diligent outreach efforts to encourage the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With the understanding that the foundation of spiritual growth and strength as a Christian is rooted in Christian Education, the Sweet Home family is blessed to have such a transformative and trailblazing ministry that strives to make disciples that make disciples... one class at a time!

College Corner with Kamryn Johnson
We are excited to highlight our college students here at The Home! Sis. Kamryn Johnson is the first to grace College Corner! She is a college freshman at Lincoln University, an HBCU located in Jefferson City, MO.
Kamryn had this to say about her first semester away at school. "Some of the expectations that I had this past semester were staying focused and coming out of with all A's and B's. I also had hopes of making the Dean's List."
Kamryn stated that her faith has been her foundation. "Christ has really influenced how I navigated this semester. I prayed a lot in hopes that I would have an eventful semester; without having to struggle a whole bunch."
Kamryn currently has 3.8 GPA, and she is majoring in Agriculture with an emphasis in Business. Her goal for the spring semester is to continue what she started during the fall. Godspeed to you, Sis. Kamryn, your Sweet Home family is praying with and for you!

Christian Education Corner
The Christian Education Ministry greets you in the name of our Blessed and Honored Jesus the Christ! Family and friends, we have once again arrived at this time of year, where we prepare to celebrate a new year. Let us remember that even though this past year has been challenging for us, God is still keeping us with His Grace and Mercy. We thank our Pastor for his constant encouragement. Church family, thank you for your participation and support. Our wonderful teachers are some of God's faithful! The Church-At-Study, both adult and youth, are faithful and growing in the ways of Jesus. Last month, the youth sponsored a breakfast in honor of Sweet Home's 59th Church Anniversary! They did a great job with their "Sharing How God's Love Works" presentation. We appreciate the parents of the children for their support. In the month of January, the Christian Education ministry will host the Annual Congress, and celebrate its annual day. The Congress course will be 'Discovering your Spiritual Gifts', being taught by Sis. Juanita Adams. Pastor George Hall and City of Praise will be our special guests on the Annual Day.
Happy new Year, remember Who has kept us, and He will continue to do so!
