"MAKING MINISTRY EFFECTIVE"

From the Pastor:
Greetings! I am so excited about what's going on this month at The Home! We will be celebrating thirteen years as Pastor and people. God has been faithful, keeping us together through good and bad, allowing us to prosper even in the midst of adversity. Truly He is worthy!
On the 2nd Sunday we will be celebrating our graduates. It will be a tremendous blessing that on this day we will be giving out our inaugural Philip & Judith Rogers Scholarship Awards, made possible by the generosity of many of you who support our ministry, and in honor of the late Deacon Philip Rogers, who went above and beyond to minister to all, especially our youth, and his wife Judith, who worked alongside him and still works to keep his legacy alive.
It is my prayer that you enjoy this edition of HomeWork. Please know that if you have any ideas or submissions, you can send them to us at info@sweethomembcgary.org.
Be Blessed on Purpose!
Marlon C. Mack, Sr., Senior Pastor

Virtual Worshipper Salute:
Fred Johnson is our Virtual Member of the month! He resides in Kansas City, MO, by way of Morristown, NJ. Bro. Fred worked in the Kansas City, MO School District until he retired in 2006. Still having a passion for working, he came out of retirement to be a part of the Hickman Mills School District, where he is currently employed. Bro. Fred is a proud member of the St. James United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, and creating family memories by traveling with his grandchildren. He always checks in with his Sweet Home family on Sundays by commenting on the streaming videos with his signature line - 'Good morning from KCMO'! We are grateful to Bro. Fred Johnson for his support of what God is doing here at The Home!

Member Spotlight:
Sis. Emma McCloud
Sis. Emma McCloud is featured member for the month of June. Upon speaking with her, a true voice of hope radiated from her humble words...
"God is so good! I have been on a long journey of health issues such as cancer, several head surgeries, two stints put in my heart... so much more than people know. But God!! He is so good to me! I know that I could have been 6 feet under, but the Lord saved me and cleansed me to show other people how God can bring them back from anything! My testimony is about God cleansing me, teaching me, and my Savior showing me that He can provide anything that I am looking for. I wouldn't trade my faith for anything in the world. I thank God for my church, and my Pastor. He always mentions my husband and I in his remarks and it makes us feel so special! Because of what God has done for me, I have a song in my heart to sing- 'God has so much' - that may not be the title of the song, but I will come in to the church house singing it! I will be back! I have to believe! We just have to believe! Whatever you need, God will provide! He is a loving God!" Amen

Ministry Highlight:
The Healthcare Ministry of Sweet Home MBC is an invaluable asset to the Kingdom of God. Sis. Carolyn Sims leads the charge of ensuring that everyone within our church feels protected, cared for, and loved. While the impact of COVID-19 required major shifts in the functioning of in-person services, the level of commitment from the Healthcare Ministry has risen to the challenge! From tissues, to temperature checks, there is nothing Sis. Carolyn won't do for anyone who walks through Sweet Home's doors. What she does on Sundays is an example of the Christ-like love she shows during the week. This month we salute the Godly efforts of the Healthcare Ministry, and thank God for their presence at The Home!

Christian Education Corner
I greet you once again, my Sweet Home family and friends, in the precious Holy Name of Jesus Christ. I count it all Joy to be a part of the Christian Education Ministry, and what is being taught because of its God-led work. The core of Christian Education is our Church-At-Study, also called Sunday School. We have in-depth discussions, ask questions, and receive clarity to help us grow spiritually! One of our goals is to foster a 'safe place', where people can feel free to share and receive a transformative experience.
The month of May was focused on Self-Control/Temperance, the ninth quality of the Fruit of the Spirit in Galations 5:22-23. Minister Stephanie Harden led the month with 'What is Self-Control?', Reverend Johnny Henderson continued with 'Why do we need Self-Control?', Reverend Beauty Ervin followed with What Does Self-Control Look Like', and Pastor Marlon Mack closed the series with 'What are the Results of Self-Control?'. Before we can receive Self-Control, we must: pray, acknowledge, repent, ask and receive Salvation from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A true believer can't possess one or some of the Fruit of the Spirit, and operate in the Nature of God. We must possess and operate in all of them - they are from God and Eternal.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact the church at (219)97-1400, or Rev. Ervin at (219)977-1101.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Beauty Ervin
