Sweet Home 2023:

"The 5G Church"
We Gather, We Group, We Grow, We Go, We Give
From the Pastor:

Grace and Peace! I pray that God's favor finds you wherever you may be. Know that whatever situation you may be facing, whatever your circumstances may be, we serve a God who is not only able, but He is willing to deliver you, JUST ASK HIM!
Please continue to be in prayer for each other and our ministry, that God's hand will remain upon us as we seek to lift our level of discipleship that He might be glorified the more by all that we do!

Please know that if you have any ideas or submissions, you can send them to us at info@sweethomembcgary.org.

In Anticipation of Greater,

Marlon C. Mack, Sr., Senior Pastor

Member Spotlight:
Rev. Beauty Ervin

The Member Spotlight for the month of March is our special Rev. Beauty Ervin! Having been a member since 1968, Rev. Beauty is well-known in our church and throughout the community as the one who gathers the youth! She will travel high and low in search of our lost little sheep and guide them back into the fold! Not only does she work passionately with our young people, but Rev. Beauty Ervin is also our Minister of Christian Education, the Dean of IBMBDA Congress of Christian Education, the mentoring Dean of the GMBSCI, Inc., and the Sweet Home Youth Sunday School teacher.
Her favorite scripture is Psalm 91:1-5. She says, "this scripture shares that God is a Protector, a Keeper, a Guide, and my Shelter in times of storms."
Rev. Beauty comes from a long line of Christian believers. Born in 1943, she was raised with her 9 siblings by her parents Deacon Veauford Corbitt and Essie Styles-Corbitt, along with her grandparents, where she was taught to be very respectful to adults and the house of God, and to always reverence God. Rev. Beauty gave her life to Christ and was baptized at 7 years old by her father and her pastor. While living here in Gary, she was married to Deacon James Ervin for a wonderful 57 years! They lovingly called each other 'Boss' and 'Dad', which always seemed to make Rev. Beauty blush! Together they raised 2 daughters and continue to show unconditional love to 7 grandchildren 9 great grandchildren.
Throughout Rev. Beauty's Christian journey, she has truly served the Lord! Her past areas of ministry include Youth Director, youth teacher, choir member, Sunday School Superintendent, Ushers/Nurses President, Pastor's Aid chairperson, National Midwest Asst. Youth Director, Original GMBSCI Women's President, State Congress Administrator, & graduate of the Sunday School Publishing Board.
When the storms of life come, Rev. Beauty turns to God's Word. She submits to His keeping power and believes that prayer is the key! Wise words to live by, Rev. Beauty, and we are blessed to have you in our church family!

"GOD CAN REMAKE YOUR MISTAKE"

Making mistakes is part of growing. Babies learn how to walk by falling over and over. Children learn what is safe and what isn’t by experience. Adults continue to learn what to do, sometimes by first experiencing what NOT to do. When you stumble, or even when you fully fall, God can still pick you back up. Falling is not failing, it is an opportunity to learn. Psalm 37:23-24 says, “Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand.”
Much like those babies learning to walk, we all need God’s guiding hands to hold us up and direct us where to go. Don’t ever let your missteps cause you to believe you are too far gone to be saved. At every age and phase of life, God can remake your mistake!
