Sweet Home 2022:

"It's Time To Work"
"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed; not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputing: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;"
Philippians 4:12-15
From the Pastor:

Greetings,
Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brothers and sisters to dwell together in unity! My prayer is that this month's edition of HomeWork finds you well. The newness of Spring causes me to reflect on the amazing possibilities and potential that God has in store for us a family of faith.
As we continue to rejoice over what God has allowed us to do as well as what He's doing in our lives, let us not lose the sense of urgency concerning the work that God has assigned to our hands. I look forward to our shared experience of God together as a family of faith!

Please know that if you have any ideas or submissions, you can send them to us at info@sweethomembcgary.org.

Member Spotlight:
Sis. Sharon Allen

This month our member spotlight shines on the longest tenured member of Sweet Home... Sis. Sharon Allen! Sis. Sharon is an active choir member and a S.A.S.S.Y. sister in our Women's ministry.
She came to The Home as a baby in 1963, along with her mother (Alice Gibson) and 6 brothers and sisters, under the leadership of Udell Gibson at 1036 Rutledge Street. In 1975, Sis. Sharon was baptized at 12 years old by Pastor Nathaniel Sullivan. As she recalls this memory, she also remembers how he sang like Al Green!
As a faithful member under Pastor Mack's leadership, Sis. Sharon's faith continues to remain strong. She proudly shares that she is married to John Allen, has 4 children and 7 grandchildren, and has lived in the Northwest Indiana area her entire life.
Her favorite scripture is Psalm 23. She was asked why, and this is her response, "God is always there. He never forsakes me, and I know that with Him with me, I can get through anything." She also said that Psalm 23 is one of the first scriptures she learned growing up! It continues to touch her heart and she can relate that powerful word to any situation.
Being a singer, she has a favorite song, too! 'The Sweetest Name I Know' is a song she used to sing years ago, and it reminds her of her mom. It touches her heart because her mom was also there whenever she needed her, especially when she was ill. Her mother never made her feel like she was a bother, as she sacrificed for Sis. Sharon and gave her the security she needed during those difficult times in her life. She knows that God gives her that same security. What a testimony, Sis. Sharon! Thank you for reminding us that God is a very present help in times of trouble! God bless you!
Collegiate Corner - Sis. Jalynn Ward

For the month of May, we are highlighting one of our college students - Sis. Jalynn Ward!
Jalynn has just completed her freshman year at Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS!
She has taken her college journey in stride and says that chillin' is one her pastimes!
She credits her faith in God to her ability in making important decisions like adjusting her schedule or how to manage challenging classes. She has learned that everything isn't going to be a win, and you have to move on from the losses that you do experience.
Sis. Jalynn is learning that having a bounce-back spirit in necessary in life, and it seems that she is trusting that God will strengthen her for it all! We are proud of you, Jalynn!

Ministry Highlight - Operation Hope
Operation Hope is a ministry that seeks to serve not only the Sweet Home family, but the community as well. Led by Sis. Eve Williams and Sis. Lillian Campbell, this ministry organizes and implements serving others. This is a labor of love through which the heart of Christ is seen in all that they do. The beautiful thing about this ministry is that at some point, every member of our church family has worked with this ministry! Our prayer is that this spirit of cooperation will continue to abide, not only in this ministry, but throughout our entire church.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, Bless His Holy Name!
Greetings, church family! God has brought us through another month in 2022, and we are thankful for all He has done, is doing, and will do for us. The Christian Education ministry is so excited for the Lord is doing in the Sweet Home family!
We thank you for your faithfulness and we are joyful for our young people. On this past Resurrection Sunday, the youth did a wonderful job presenting the Fate of Jesus - Christ is Risen!
