Sweet Home 2023:

"The 5G Church"
We Gather, We Group, We Grow, We Go, We Give
From the Pastor:

God is faithful! In spite of whatever we may encounter, we can always count on God to be true to His Word! I am so grateful that God continues to allow His favor to rest on us as a church family. Individually and collectively, we are experiencing miracles, signs, and wonders that provide evidence that HE is all that we need. Who wouldn't serve a God like that?
We will continue in our Teaching Series, "Discovering Your Purpose", that we might determine how to best serve Him when, where, and how He desires us to serve. Please join us on Tuesdays for Church-At-Study at 6:30pm.

Please know that if you have any ideas or submissions, you can send them to us at info@sweethomembcgary.org.

In Anticipation of Greater,

Rev. Marlon C. Mack, Sr., Senior Pastor

Member Spotlight:
Bro. John Moore

The Member Spotlight for the month of May is Bro. John Moore!
Bro. Moore is one of our gifted choir members, a Deacon-In-Training, and is active in our Men's Ministry. If you are preaching good, you can count on a shout of 'you in the Word!' or 'tell the story!', from the front row where Bro. Moore is planted, eagerly awaiting a Word from the Lord.

His favorite scripture is Romans 8:28. Why? He answered by saying, "because it highlights the fact that ALL things work TOGETHER for the good... Good + Good= Good... Good + Bad = Good ... Bad + Bad = Good... IT'S ALL GOOD!"
When the storms of life are intense, as they have been for Bro. Moore during the past 7 years, he professed that having an active and engaging prayer life helps him. Even when he doesn't talk to God and can't feel him, his Faith keeps him believing. And sure enough, it all came to pass, according to the Lord's Faithfulness! "We are either heading into a storm, in a storm, or just coming out of a storm", says Bro. Moore with assurance, and that Romans 12 :1-2 helps him with this level of faith and humility.
When asked about his decision to join the Sweet Home family, he responded with a smile. "It took me 15 years to get to Sweet Home, not knowing the plan that God had for my life. I've known Pastor Mack all of his life, and I came from one of the larger churches in Gary. I thought I could come to church, hear the Word, attend a Bible study or two and then go home. God and Pastor Mack had other plans 😂😂😂! I finally realized that I can do greater works in a small church, and I've been blessed tremendously since I joined Sweet Home! I pray that God blesses Pastor Mack to retain the faith and resilience it takes for this endeavor. To God be the glory 😇!"
To wrap up this powerful segment, Bro. John Moore has two words for us... "Be Encouraged‼️"

"FAITH THAT OVERCOMES FEAR"

People of all ages have fears. Fear is a natural part of being human. In some cases, it’s a good thing, as it can help us preserve ourselves in dangerous situations. Fear becomes dangerous when we let it stop us from doing what God tells us to do. Sometimes God doesn’t call us to do what we are naturally good at or comfortable with, and that can absolutely be scary. Look at Moses for example. Like a lot of us, he had a fear of public speaking. His fear stemmed from his speech impediment. In Exodus 6:12, he questioned God’s command for him to be the one to go speak with Pharaoh to convince him to free the Israelites from bondage. Instead of relieving Moses of the duty completely, God sent him a helper (Aaron) to get the job done as He commanded. We need to remember that God will send us all of the help we need and equip us fully for anything He calls us to. The key is knowing when you are called to do something by God vs. when you are led to do something simply by your own preferences, or other people’s recommendations. Yes, fear is real, but so is God. Let your faith overcome your fear.
