It's November. WOW!!!! We celebrate God's faithfulness and favor in, on, and through His church! I am Godly proud of your dedication to the cause of Christ. Know that your labor of love is both valued and appreciated. I look forward to worshipping with you in our services, fellowshipping with you at our banquet, and working in our ministries.

Let us continue to look toward the future while building on our past. God has done, is doing, and will continue to do a great work. My prayer is that we, as a family of faith, will continue to be led by Him in our walk, work, worship, and witness!

The Member Spotlight for the month of November is Sis. Juanita Adams!

Sis. Juanita Adams is a long-standing, hat-adorning member of our Sweet Home family! She is affectionately known as Mother Adams, while she refers to some as “my baby”. She is the mother of our church, active in our SASSY and Christian Education Ministries, leads our Pastoral Care Ministry, and is a church Trustee. Sis. Adams also served as the Brotherhood District Women's Auxiliary President, as well as a former GMBSCI State Women’s Auxiliary President.

Her favorite scripture is Psalm 23. When asked why, she humbly answered, “David (the writer of Psalm 23) let me know that I’m never alone on this earth. No matter what confronts me, I’m never alone.” Sis. Adams grew up in the church, and like most of us, there were moments as a young adult when church wasn’t her top priority. Even during those times, she knew there was a calling on her life. As she reflects on this memory, she added, “A dear friend invited me to Sweet Home, and I’ve been here ever since. That was over 40 years ago!” Time sure does fly! Since then, Sis. Adams retired from Inland Steel Corporation, and currently resides in East Chicago. She is the mother of 6 loving children, the grandmother of 14 beautiful grandchildren, and the great-grandmother of 7 precious great grandchildren!

Sis. Adams notes that it is the Holy Spirit that dwells within her to keep her going when storms come in her life. She credits her connection to Sweet Home for the Christian maturation that has taken place in her life, and she’s excited about continuing to grow in God’s Word. “Our relationship with God gets closer the more we get to know Him. You are never too old to grow and learn more about God.” No truer words have been spoken, Mother Adams, and we appreciate your Godly wisdom!

This month's Ministry Highlight is on the entire faith family of the Sweet Home MB Church. This diverse group of believers of varying ages, backgrounds, and experiences have been led to unite in continuing the assignment that Christ has given His followers. Each of them, no matter how large or small their contribution may seem, has been significant in what God has graced this church to do over the course of its sixty years of existence. God be praised for each and every one of you, and may He continue to bless you beyond measure!
