Greetings! It is my prayer that this edition of HomeWork reaches you in the best of health and spirit. As we enter the final quarter of the year, I cannot help but rejoice over God's faithfulness! He continues to be a Healer, Provider, and Waymaker. With so much going on in the world, isn't it good to know that God has blessed us to prosper in the midst of a pandemic? I know that many of you have had to face difficulties in various areas of your lives, and my prayer is that God will continue to grant you His grace to endure whatever comes your way. You are more than a conqueror!

Be Blessed on Purpose!

Sis. Samantha Johnson, lovingly called Sis. Sam, is a faithful member of The Home as a part of the S.A.S.S.Y. Women's Ministry and a singing soprano in the Sweet Home Choir!

She joined Sweet Home in April 2008; keeping her promise to Pastor Mack months earlier that when he became a pastor, she was going to be a member of his church. Sis. Sam not only joined, but she encouraged some of her family to follow her - Sis. Vera Reed, Sis. Delmar (Shae) Kendall, and Derrick Brewer.

Being a part of the Sweet Home family has taught her humility, patience, and empathy for others and what they are going through. This awesome teaching comes from her humble pastor, Rev. Marlon C. Mack, Sr.! Sis. Sam is confident in her proclamation that anyone sitting under Pastor Mack cannot help but learn how to be humble. Her reverence and respect for her spiritual leader is rooted in his ability to be a listening ear and a helping hand. She has also witnessed his compassion during the times he eulogized six of her family members.

We thank God for this faithful songbird, who presses her way to worship with her Sweet Home family!

Debra is a Gary native and West Side High School graduate. Debra earned a Criminal Justice degree from Ball State University. Debra has always devoted her life to serving Christ. She feels especially blessed that God has kept her and her family through this pandemic. Debra says not only has He kept them, but that the Lord has blessed them immensely. She has always had a gift for working with youth. She is currently a teacher at New Vista's High School, where she concentrates on students in need of credit recovery. Debra is the cousin of Sis. Shanta Mack, and is actually responsible for Sis. Mack's name! She is a contributor to Heavenly Manna (our women's daily devotional), and is glad to be able to worship with Sweet Home virtually.

Debra is married to Tyrone Hunt, has one daughter- Megan, and two grandchildren - Dar'Shaun and Jasmine; all with whom she loves to spend time with.

The one thing Debra wants people to know about her is that she loves the Lord, and just wants to do His will!

The Beautification Ministry of the Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church is a ministry that works to ensure that we can worship in a beautified, pleasant environment; both inside and outside of our facility. Led by Sis. Annie Aldrich and Rev. Beauty Ervin, this ministry is assisted by various members at different times, and in the spirit of cooperation, we are blessed to worship in an environment that reflects the beauty of holiness that our God deserves!
