The Lord has truly blessed us as we celebrated our Annual Women's Day and Impartation Revival, which were kicked off by our Annual Church Fellowship. It was a time of both worship and fellowship, and I believe the Lord got the glory out of all we've done.

We now turn our attention to the celebration of our church's 60th Anniversary. For SIXTY years, God has remained faithful to us as a family of faith! Although the official celebration is observed in the month of November, we can begin giving our assessments of $60 now.

As we rejoice, reflect, and remember, the Lord has given me a special sermon series, which will begin in October and climax on the final Sunday in November entitled, "You've Got Mail"; a look at the seven churches of Asia Minor in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. I'm excited about what God is doing in this season in our church!

The Member Spotlight for the month of September is Sis. Carolyn Sims!

Sis. Carolyn is currently our Healthcare Ministry Leader and will soon be relocating to Ft. Wayne, IN to be near her daughter, son-in-law, and two beautiful granddaughters. When asked about how she feels about leaving Gary, this was her response:

"It’s a sad time for me because I'm leaving my family, my church family. It’s a blessing that I can leave knowing that even though I'm moving away, I'm still connected to Sweet Home, and always will be. Its bittersweet. Sweet Home is only the second church that I have been a member of throughout my entire life. So, I'm physically leaving, but my heart will always be at Sweet Home because we are family, and we will always be family. I started off as an usher, since my husband (Bro. Leroy Sims) was an usher. Then I switched to the Nurses' ministry because of my schedule, and I have been a nurse ever since then. God had a way of placing me where I should have been in the first place! Being a nurse is my calling, and no matter what I did, I always came back to the nursing ministry. I was a nurse under Pastor Clayborn, Pastor Landry, and now Pastor Mack."

As she ponders several memories about her time at Sweet Home, what she misses most comes to mind. "What I am going to miss the most about Pastor Mack is his listening ear. He always makes time to listen to me, even when I am not making sense (lol). He just looks over the top of his glasses and smiles. That's when I know that he is praying for little ole me. When it comes to the church as whole, I will miss the family-style relationship that is in the church. A scripture that reminds me of Sweet Home is Proverbs 3:5-6. Our trust and dependency on God may not make sense to others, but God’s love keeps us together through thick and thin."

The Healthcare Ministry of the Sweet Home MB Church has been ably led by Carolyn Sims, who has been diligent, dedicated, and dutiful in her charge to our care for our congregation as occasions arise.

This ministry does more than give out water and tissue. The Healthcare Ministry assists with medications, offers aid in the time of physical, emotional, and spiritual crisis, and provides information that is beneficial to the health and well-being of the total person. We thank God for these earthly angels for their compassion, care, and competency.

Sweet Home Community News - September 2022

Greetings, Sweet Home family and friends!

The Lord has brought us through 8 months in the year 2022! He has kept us in health and strength, and we give Him all the glory and honor for it!

Our youth have started school and are adjusting to their new environments. The Youth-At-Study will continue with regular bible study, along with reading and math. Sis. Cathy Belyeu will be joining the youth ministry to conduct ministry training to encourage youth participation during our worship services.

We always welcome parent participation, and our doors are open to new ideas and suggestions!
