Sweet Home Family, God continues to bless us in spite of us!
Let us keep in mind that the same grace, mercy, patience, and understanding that we expect from Him, we should be willing to share with and show to others. Remember, we all have had times in our lives where we’ve done the wrong things for the right reasons, so let us be careful that we do not ascribe motive to others in judgment and condemnation. Only God is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Let us seek to live according to His commandments in how we deal with Him and each other! Let’s keep in mind the words of the Apostle Paul who said that we should “walk worthy of the vocation wherewith we are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:1-3).
Last month we witnessed Impartation 2025, complete with a Fashion Extravaganza on our SASSY Women’s Weekend. A special thank you to all who participated with your presence. Your efforts in setting up, modeling, and breaking things down, and preparing and serving during the fellowship. We were blessed to have as our guest preacher for the occasion, Dr. Bridget D. Weatherspoon, Vice President of Enrollment of United Theological Seminary of Trotwood, OH. If you would, join me in celebrating our SASSY sisters for their efforts!
I’d like to take this opportunity to commend our own Rev. Beauty M. Ervin for a great Congress of Christian Education for the Indiana Brotherhood Missionary Baptist District Association, where our Minister of Christian Education serves as the Dean. Kudos to you, Dean Ervin, and KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Last but not least, I want to thank you for your support at Mt. Horeb MB Church as we joined them in celebrating their 64th Church Anniversary, the Kingdom Connection Service, and of course, for your support of our VISION SUNDAY, which is EVERY 5th SUNDAY! “Let’s not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap if we don’t faint!” (Galatians 6:9).

Member Spotlight:
Sis. Marilyn Caruthers
The Member Spotlight for the month of September is Sis. Marilyn Caruthers!
Sis. Caruthers holds the position of "Mother" at The Home! She is not only the biological mother to our Pastor and Minister of Music (Sis. Rachel), she is the Mother-in-Love to Sis. Mack, the grandmother (G.G.) to our youth usher, Miss Rylee, and the spiritual mother to us all!
Sis. Caruthers is blessed with Godly discernment and has a loving way of sharing her wisdom and guidance as the Lord leads her. She is well known for her professional skills as a pianist, as she was a piano instructor to many young people, and favored playing for the Sweet Home Men's choir.
The month of September is special for Sis. Caruthers, as it is her birthday month! Born on September 25th, she is a living example of God's grace, faithfulness, and love. Knowing that only what she does for Christ will last, Sis. Caruthers is a faithful giver toward the Sweet Home ministry. She diligently tunes in each Sunday for corporate worship and is often heard on our bi-weekly prayer line; experiencing a true connection to her church family.
Sis. Caruthers' favorite scripture is Psalm 91:1 - He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. That powerful scripture can be seen on many gifts that she has given because she knows from experience that the only way to get through any storm of this life is to "dwell in God's secret place"!
Through this article we honor Sis. Marilyn Caruthers for her service to the Kingdom of God, her mentorship to other servants, and the tremendous faith she displays unapologetically! God bless you, Sis. Caruthers, and may the Lord continue to bless you and your ministry!

Ministry Highlight
The Ministry Highlight for the month of September is Faithful & Fit. Currently we are without a Healthcare Ministry, so I am grateful
for those who are taking responsibility for being good stewards over the physical bodies our God has blessed us with!
This ministry meets the 1st Saturday of each month at 10am in Gibson Fellowship Hall. We engage in various chair exercises, Pilates, and stretches, all to keep us fit. My prayer is that we will remain faithful to staying healthy as long as the Lord allows us the strength and opportunity. COME JOIN US!!!!

"Short, Simple, but Still Significant"
Not every instruction from God in the Bible was detailed and eloquently verbalized. Sometimes his instructions were as simple as one or two words, like “Go”, or “Fear not”. God did not always need to use big words or long paragraphs to get His point across, and neither do we. While an expanded vocabulary is great, don’t think that you need an arsenal of fancy words in order to spread His word. Our individual and unique delivery can be effective in helping others, as long as it is HIS word that we are presenting. In Exodus 4:10, Moses tells God, "I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since You have spoken to Your servant.” And still, God trusted him as the one to relay information from Him to the enslaved people. God knows what He is doing. It is our job to remember and trust that fact. If God gives you a task, and you feel inadequate to complete it because you don’t feel qualified or educated enough, remember that any message from God, no matter how short or simple, is still significant.
