Homecoming 2021

Everyone please keep an eye out for a separate e-mail in the next few days with the link for 2021 Homecoming/Reunion registration and links for tickets, etc. Please read carefully, as there are substantive changes to some components. If you do not receive this e-mail by July 20, please check your spam filter or contact us. Registration with tickets in the RBAA block will close on August 15; registration without ticket purchase through the RBAA will close on September 15.

It's been too long since we've been together- so let's do this! 

Upcoming Pep Band Events

Atlanta Tennis Open Tuesday, July 27, 2021
We will meet at 6:15 at the Twelve Hotel at Atlantic Station to warm up, then lead a parade style ensemble from the hotel escorting the UGA player & his entourage to the player entrance. After the parade, we will perform at the main entrance the UGA fight song and also play one fight song at the music stage area, either before or after the player stadium court entrance, depending on time. Anyone wishing to stay for the match will be VIP guests for the UGA player tennis match in the stadium court.
 
Surprise 40th Birthday Party Saturday, July 31, 2021, 495 Dogwood Valley Drive, Atlanta, GA 30342 We will gather at 6:30 and warm up. We will play from about 7:15--7:30. We will be playing outside in the front yard.

Redcoat Alumni Pep Band Goes Regional!
 
As announced in last month newsletter, the Redcoat Alumni Pep Band is back in business! We would now like to explore the possibility of forming regional pep bands that could play in locations outside of the Atlanta metro area. The gigs may be fewer and farther between, but it would be great to have a roster of willing and potentially available Redcoats in various locales. Please click the link below to access a simple form in which you can provide your location information along with your wish to represent the Redcoats close to your home! You may also complete the form if you are in the Atlanta or Athens vicinity and would like to ensure that you are added to the e-mail distribution for gigs closer to UGA.

RBAA Annual Meeting

The RBAA Annual Meeting will be Saturday, August 21. The meeting will provide information about the current Redcoats and the Redcoat Alumni Band. Be on the lookout for an announcement with more details-- including how to attend the meeting virtually and logistics info for the in-person PREGAME event that will be taking place at Redcoat Field during the evening Band Camp rehearsal.
Georgette Alum Named Miss Georgia 2021

Karson Pennington, a Georgette alum, has been named Miss Georgia 2021. Pennington, an Augusta native, was a Georgette from 2016-2019. She graduated from Georgia in 2020 with a degree in Political Science and International Affairs.

Miss University of Georgia Karson Pennington has earned the title of Miss Georgia 2021. The crown comes with a $15,000 scholarship. 

Pennington also won the On-Stage Question and Social Impact Initiative Pitch earning her an additional $300 scholarship as well as other awards. 
Her social impact initiative is ROAR: Reach Out and Read. The program focuses on reaching families through medical offices of pediatric doctors to teach parents to read aloud to children in hopes of improving literacy throughout the state.
 
Pennington will next compete for the title of Miss America.
