Alumni Messenger
Dear Alumni,
Welcome Home!

Homecoming is just two months away, October 4-6, 2024. I pray that coming to MLC feels like coming home to you.

For many alumni, the MLC campus is the place where you forged new friendships, learned more about Jesus, and prepared for your future. Others of you may have prepared for ministry on another campus, but we hope that Martin Luther College can feel like home to you too!

Get your accommodations now
Homecoming is also the first weekend of Oktoberfest in New Ulm, and hotels fill up fast. New Ulm has several VRBO/Airbnb accommodations that you can explore if you can't book a room in a hotel.

Make plans now to attend the Alumni Mixer!

  • Saturday, October 5
  • 4:00 - 7:30 pm

Enjoy time with fellow alumni from our four colleges (MLC, NWC, DMLC, MLTC) and two high schools (DMLHS, MLA).

We'll have cool alumni swag available only at the Mixer, and you'll have an opportunity to register for a basket of MLC merch. Come for a little while or stay the entire evening.

We will have free appetizers and a cash bar available. A suggested donation of $5 for the appetizers is appreciated but not required.
Memories of Old Main
"I remember convincing a couple of my siblings and a few others to climb up [to the Old Main roof]. The neatest experience of the belltower is this: Once inside the steeple, there are four hidden chasms, one under each set of louvred windows. Inside this chasm, we discovered very elaborately carved initials along with the year! I can't say the exact year, but I think I remember a very deep and artistic carving from 1889!"
- John Hartwig, DMLC Class of 1982

Note: The fire escape that once made this illicit journey possible is no longer available!

Graduation Video
Check it out!

We created a three-minute video of the 2024 Graduation and Call Day services and celebration. We are thankful for these servants of the Lord!
Recruitment 102
Words matter. And children listen.

We have opportunities every day to lift up the public ministry in the eyes of children around us.

Those in ministry can talk about the joy of seeing someone believe in God's forgiveness for the first time or the awe of seeing a struggling student thrive.

Those called to other vocations can speak of their appreciation for the work of the called workers at churches and schools. They can lift them up as an example of "How beautiful . . . are the feet of the messenger bringing good news" (Isaiah 52:7).

MLCAA Gives to MLC
Did you know? Every penny of the donations given to MLCAA provide financial support for non-budgeted campus projects and student scholarships.

  • 70% of the gifts received will support the MLCAA Endowed Scholarship, which grants tuition money to students.

  • 30% of the gifts received will provide outdoor furniture for our students, giving them a comfortable outdoor setting for eating, studying, and socializing.

Join other alumni and consider making a gift to support the scholarship and outdoor furniture purchase.
