Alumni Spotlight

Amy (Ashyk) Ladwig '76

Amy Ladwig remains as enthusiastic about Elyria Catholic High School now as when she graduated in 1976. "I just love EC. I had such a great time in high school, making lifelong friendships, and ultimately EC prepared me for success at Miami of Ohio, my career, and in life," Ladwig explained. During a recent trip to California, EC President, Annie Heidersbach, and Director of Philanthropy and Engagement, Garen Distelhorst, spent a delightful  evening with Amy near her home in Laguna Niguel.

We Welcomed a New Panther

Father Deo

Elyria Catholic recently welcomed Fr. Deogratias Ruwaainenyi (Fr. Deo) as our new chaplain. Fr. Deo was appointed by Bishop Malesic earlier this month to serve at EC this school year and to provide a priestly presence to students and staff. He will be here on Thursday mornings, starting with Mass in the Our Lady of Grace Chapel before school at 7:30 am. He will remain in the school for several hours to hear confessions, meet with students, and visit classrooms. Fr. Deo celebrated our opening liturgy on August 30, where he commissioned 17 new Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. He currently serves as the Parochial Vicar for the Avon Catholic Community, which includes both Holy Trinity and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception parishes. Prior to that, he served for many years as chaplain at Fairview Hospital. We are happy to welcome Fr. Deo to the Panther Family!
